Al dogs are a little different. Its just like people. Some can eat like a horse and not gain weight, while some eat like a bird and put on weight. More about metabolism. Cut your food in half, if he gets too skinny, bump it up a little.

Most folks wit fat dogs thinks mine is skinny. He is actually in great shape. But for real, your dog is fat. Cut back to one cup.

Buddy(5'8" 350#) brought his well muscled trained lab to vet one day. The lady next to him remarked of how skinny Dutch was. He turned and told her that it was his observation that most fat folks had fat dogs and he wasn't going to have a fat dog!
Lose 10# and use her another 3 yrs or keep feeding her and be done the choice is yours my friend.

puriana pro plan 1 cup (parade style) a day. but thats coming from someone that owns a 54# full grown lab. haha and my dog looks skinny to most but she is fit!during hunting season i do bump it up to 1 1/2 to 2 cups a day.

Might wanna research that Iams food too. I havent seen real good reports on that brand. Most big companies like that spend more money on their advertisement than they do on their ingredients. Sometimes vets arent the best nutritionalists either. My local vet only sells science diet. Its very low on the list of quality food,but they prolly get a comission for selling it. Check the first 3 ingredients of the food, should have at least one good meat in the first 3. Ive been having good results with my dogs on call of the wild. Its made by diamond. If you want a good supplement also, check out Nuvet. Very good success stories.

That is the million $ question. Do you eat as much as all pro linebacker ray Lewis? Probably not, but he exercises a lot more and his metabolism is a lot higher. Same with dogs everyone is different. First i would go get her hips checked as Raymond advised. Then I would drop her food back dramatically. I try to keep my dog at 75lbs but he is very active and I work him as much as possible during the off season. I have to watch him closely do to his eic so this is strict in the hot months. I feel this is a comfortable weight for him. Your dog may have a good weight at 80lbs. You have to judge this since her life is i your hands. You don't want to starve her because of lack of exercise. I would switch to a better grade of food gradually and adjust your amount from there along with either a exercise program or catching marks regularly. Best of luck, she will thank you with many more years of hunting.

I feed 4 cups a day of pro plan and thats keeping my 13 month old pups weight right but he burns more calories in the kennel then most dogs do on a hunt. I'm like foreman, quality food along with year round exercise will equal a longer lasting dog.

How tall are you on bad day? 5'-7 1/8"?:confused:
