Has anyone put a t-top or k-top on a Frontier?

inchspinner 06-24-2013 09:48 AM

Getonfish has a bimini on his...

SuperDave 06-24-2013 10:09 AM

Yeah, I just don't know if I like the Bimini tops that much. I need to ask him for some pictures.

alphaman 06-24-2013 10:31 AM

Im thinking about putting a bimini top on my boat.

The thing I don't care for about the Bimini top is when they are stowed they take up space on the rear deck and you have to pass the fishing pole around the straps and poles if you want to walk to the rear of the boat if you have a fish on.

I'd like to have a T top but not a massive one. Just enough cover to get some shade on those super hot days.

jlincecum 06-24-2013 12:02 PM

also interested in other ideas for shade. wife wants some on the boat for family days but i want it removable for the rest of the time. no t-top here

alphaman 06-24-2013 12:02 PM

Thats exactly y im undecided. I dont think ill be able to get to my rear storage compartments..and 650 is alot for a bimini top.

T-TOP 06-24-2013 12:14 PM

T-top is nice on those hot days and the storage and lighting... But I had to take mine off for weld repairs and I'm not sure I will ever put it back on.... Was surprised at how much it effected the handling of the boat, also like to hit the shrimp behind there weirs and go under the kelso bayou bridge to black lake...

jlincecum 06-24-2013 12:18 PM

t-tops have theirs place. but not every place

I have an 8' beach umbrella stored in my deck. I just put in in the rod holder on the console if I need some shade. You obviously can't run with it but its better than having something in the way if you don't need it. To me t-tops take away half your fishing space even on a 24' boat.

getonfish 06-24-2013 01:28 PM

I only use my bimini top when I have my kids in the boat or if a summer storm pops up. If you get the slides put on the bimini it really takes up very little space on the back deck.

I put one of these on my Frontier 190

http://www.canvasusa.com/Performance...6fc7830673f875

Works great and when it folds up, it's completely out of the way because it conforms to the center console grab bar. Great people to work with over there.

I do like that. How does it hold up under full throttle? I bet those things are a hit if they old up well!

I don't see why this couldn't be added.. I just wonder how it would look on a frontier.

WAO is no problem, never have to lower it until I'm ready to pick the boat up. Pro: no ducking or passing rods around the railings Con: like any t-top, it doesn't provide a whole lot of shade, but enough to let you get out of the sun.
