i think youre mistaken. the ford out does them all in the pulling.

between Chevy 5.3, Ford 5.0, and ecoboost, I can tell you this. First off don't get the chevy 5.3 (2008), I didn't like the way it pulled at all. It would struggle pulling into a headwind with a 16' express, truck seemed like it forgot where its gears were... enough said to that

Between the 5.0 and Eco, I think its a preference thing. For our bay boat, the mileage is similar (5.0 may be a tad better, I never drove it and my uncle drives much slower than I do so hard to say about mileage) I do know that when I set my(ECO) cruise at 70-73 with our bay boat, it'll never drop a gear going from Opelousas to V. Bay and mileage is anywhere between 11-13mpg with our bay boat, just depends on wind/load and whatever. With my 16' express hooked up, I can drive 75 and mileage is usually right around 15mpg. Mileage on interstate at 74mph is usually 17-19mpg, you drop that to 68mph and its over 20.

EDIT: Forgot to mention these were all 4x4 trucks. In the fords are 3.5.5 ratios

There is NO replacement for displacement! The 5.7L has 63% more displacement. If you want more power out of it, some off the shelf aftermarket bolt-ons and a programmer will get you there. I don't think anybody wants to fiddle with the 3.5L ecoboost. They have already squeezed all the power out of the 3.5L.

that lil 3.5 eco boost with a few modifications can make a ****LOAD more power than it already does! New Technology > Displacement IMO

Bolton Ford here in Lake Charles offers performance stuff for the ecoboost with a warranty.

the eco boost will make more power than the 5.0 all day long with same amount of money invested! Simple as that!

That's impossible. Thought there was no replacement for displacement lol.

Agreed!!!! It is displacement by force of psi in area. Very easy equation.

buddy got one 6 months ago and hasn't had to fill up yet, keeps a spare tank in the back because it actually makes gas when pulling his 42' Bertram. Has a yeti also, so hasn't bought ice in 3 years either:rotfl:

Hi.. Guy's

Well My 2007 Tundra crewmax air intake injection pump and valves just when on the blink.. One of the valves is in the stuck open mode. It's in Limp mode.. No more than 45-50 miles an hr..

There is a customer support program that Toyo is covering this problem for 10 yrs and 150 K miles on 07-10 tundra's and sequoia... I have 135K on it now..

Well i had a check engine lite go in 2012.. Brought it in to dealer in South Laffy.. They fixed the problem no charge which I was unaware of. Installed new air intake pump and valves..

Well its happened again about 10-12 days ago.. Well this time toyo will pay for the parts but no the labor.. which they indicated is about 4 hrs @ 100 /hr. so $400

Been without a truck 2 weeks and they gave me a loaner Camry.. Parts are on back order 4-6 wks..

Called Toyo USA.. They indicated they backing regionals decision to make me pay labor costs being it's the second time.. I've argued until blue in face.

I asked if the san antonio plant was shut down due to no updated air pumps. and If not why so long as to parts..

I told them my life story about being laid off due to oil prices.. Also I bought a truck BECAUSE I NEED A TRUCK to pull my heavy azz 24' triton lts.

Well they got approval for me to go out and rent a truck.. But will pay a max of $35 day.

But they won't rent me one. I'd have to use my money then WAIT TO get it back.. So I'm driving Camry...

This whole deal as put a BAD taste in my mouth... I'm thinking I am going to get it fixed.. Then sell it.. get me another used late model F150 4x4 ..

My question is I pull my 24' triton to GI or Venice once or twice a yr.. BL 4-6 times a yr...

I like the ecoboost.. Are the 20013 or 14 models having problems and are they worth..

I loved this tundra other than gas mileage and then having to bring it to Hampton in Laffy..

Just feel like I'm getting raped very time I bring it there.. I brought it to Musson in New Iberia this time..

I got a quote for them to do my spark plugs.. $300 with tax.. Damnnnn..

I drove my F150 for 230K before I sold it to get this tundra..

I'm turned off on the tundra's right now..

Ecoboost or 5.0 V-8??? Also what lift kit is optimum for the F 150; just a leveling kit or say 2" rear and 1 1/2" front so lights are not blinding everyone.. I'd want to put a little more tire like I have now on my tundra. 33" Open country's. I have a 3" lift on my tundra but was running 35" nitto's. ran them unitl I wore them out.. then put the 33". which don't humn as much as the terra graps did..

PS. I know we had lots of blogs about ecoboost.. Just asking again..

Thks

Gunner

I have the 2014 F150 ecoboost no problem pulling my Boat to fourchon, love the torque it has. My old truck (2003 gmc sierra 1500 V8) had issue pulling my offshore boat up those big bridge going to fourchon.

Goooh 05-18-2015 06:09 PM

Go bigger than 5.0!

haoward 05-18-2015 06:47 PM

10-11mpg pulling my boat with 160 gallon of fuel, ice and gear cant complain. ONLY worry I have is the life of the turbos.... : (

rustyb 05-18-2015 08:47 PM

Gunner I have 65K on my ecoboost and it will pull anything. I pull a 38ft fifth wheel toy hauler. Come drive it. Im right here near maurice. I also have the 5.0 here as well. Bring your boat we can haul it to the water.
