What kind of WOT RPM do you get with that Bravo? Do you have it on a jack plate? I see that the smallest pitch a Bravo comes in is a 22p. I can't turn that. I'm also not running a jack plate.

On a 6"atlas jp 5750 rpm it'll bump the limiter if I'm light.
Yea that 175 is a smaller block than 200 so it would be tough for you to turn a 22p. I would try a tempest plus if your not happy with your current prop. I would think you could get closer to 55mph and still have good holeshot with that engine set up right.

I've got 55-56 once with my frontier and 175 suk.
That was 1 person 1/4 tank little gear and bouncing off the limter.
wot with 2 peeps and gear I get about 51.
I have no idea what prop. Whatever it came with. Seems to be on point.
I wouldn't mind a little more hole shot though.

alphaman 01-22-2015 09:50 AM

I don't have a jackplate or power pole on my frontier. And WOT 1 person 1/4 tank I hit 57 but backed off bc the back end was getting squirrelly. Felt like the prop was the only thing in the water.

You will be happy with the performance of a 175. I'll be happy to give you a test run if your ever in the Lafayette area.

$4 to $5000 for 5 mph isn't worth it imo. You could put that 5 grand somewhere else.

I agree. I tried a 21p tempest. Ran 53-54 mph, but only turned up about 5400-5500 rpm. I'm currently running a Solas HR Titan 19p. Running 52-53 mph and 5700 rpm. I think I can stand to raise my motor on the transom. In my opinion, the cavitation plate is getting a little too wet. That's gonna be my next experiment. Honestly though, it's running pretty good as is. I would just like to see if it's got anymore in it. Wish Merc mounting holes were like Yamaha's. Would make it a lot easier to change motor height.

You're right to most people it isn't worth it but to me it is cruising at 45 vs 35 at a lower Rpm or even 50 @ 4900rpms is a big deal to me and doesn't work the bigger engine as hard but everyone's needs and most of all budget is different. I don't think there is a 5grand difference between a
200 opti ( $13k )and not sure on 175 zuke $.
Just throwing that out there

I was talking about the price of the 200 sho. The suzuki 175 was 12k.

bama1080 01-22-2015 08:14 PM

Yeah they're definitely more proud of those Yamahas.

My best so far in my Key West 210BR with Suzuki 175, with me and my buddy 1/2 tank of fuel was 52mph. No jack plate. Suzuki 3 blade, 15" 21 pitch prop. PLENTY fast enough for me!

true dat Goooh, was with alphaman on that trip, and in same conditions in my own boat. Everyone likes to talk about "dry ride"

head, or following into 3 footers, you will be dry. quarter those same waves heading in and it gets interesting.

best is learn your boat, and do what it takes to get safely back to the dock...wet or dry... in the summer wet=fun cause its too damn hot. especially if you got a good looking doe or two onboard!

alphaman 01-28-2015 12:37 PM

Scott how wet were you and I in my boat? When that front from the N came in an we had to go from michelle cove to the point. I don't think you and I got wet but 1 of the boys did who was sitting in the seat at the back of the boat.
