Wag 02-28-2010 10:33 AM

Looks like im going to get the XSI with a ef75-300mm lense (canon)

I think it'll be a good starter set up

it's going to be around 750-780....I'd rather spend that on a camera that will help me rember the good times, rather than tackle, that last only for a little while.

SULPHITE 03-01-2010 09:25 PM

Or you could buy two shimano cumulus rods!!

I would love to get into outdoor photography too...just can't justify the cheese to buy a nice camera right now...

I ended up getting the just XS. The 75-300 was in the package deal with the XS. And i honestly didn't feel like spending 1000+ right now plus warranty.

Love it so far. Was dark so couldn't take any pics. Will test it out tomorrow fa sho!

So..Canon Rebel XS with 18-55mm lense and 75-300 mm lense

adamsfence 03-04-2010 08:17 PM

you gonna love it my wife has the nikon d60.....i think i play with it more than her....i also bought the photoshop elements 8......man that is neat. it will reconize someones face and organize it under a folder under their name. there is some cool stuff out there for these cameras you also can buy a lense that is the size of my boat for it they get pretty big (exxagerating just a little)

huntin fool 03-07-2010 09:49 PM

[SIZE=2]"The SLR Camera Case (code 455) is compatible with most SLR type cameras. It'll float with your camera in"

A water proof case would be a nice addition to your setup. Verify the highlighted quote from the link is the right one for your XS.

Two Things

Two things to remember about photography.

1. You camera absolutely doesn't matter.
2. The most important part of your camera is the 12 inches behind it.

Oh yeah, and IS is good but IS will not stop a fast subject. It will only help you shoot a stationary subject at a slower shutter speed. It may help with panning, but that is debatable.

To stop a fast subject you need a fast lens.

Good luck with your purchase. I hope it works out well for you.

Not that much

XSI or XS ? Do the feature comparison and decide if it is worth the extra for you.

I bought my wife this lens for Christmas. It was $200 at Amazon.com. She uses it alot and works great. There are all types of lenses for a lot less money.

adamsfence 03-30-2010 08:02 AM

i bought that lense but it came in a kit it didn't make the price go up that much either. i was thinking around 200 too. got mine from amazon too.

IS is very good for taking still or action photos. IS is not for stopping fast action, IS is for the user and the human response of shaking/moving while taking pictures. IS helps compensate for the shaking/moving.
