We've got a ball game tomorrow night and I'm going to see the lady who will do the delivery for us there so I'll have that lined up soon.

southern151 12-07-2011 09:01 PM

Alright, you guys shook the bean counter out of his roost and put him back at the shop counting. As of RIGHT NOW, I have IN MY POSSESSION, $1480. Now, this doesn't include numerous WalMart gift cards, food donations or, the check that I did not have time to go get today that is to be $1000.

Tentatively, we have $2480 + all the extras that we are still gathering. I am also still working on my vendors to cough up some of the large profits they hit on me throughout the year. Also, I have yet to drop my own $$ on this. I'm sure there are several more holding out as well. I'd just feel dumb Paypal'ing myself money. Alright, as of right now, I'm pitching $100 in so, we are looking at $2580.

Chicken and I have talked and, if we can hit $3000, I think we'll be well on our way to making two families have a very wonderful Christmas! It may sound like a lot of $$ but remember we are shopping for 8 kids and 4 adults...No, we aren't buying toys for the adults but, gift cards to shoe stores are more to help the adults than bring joy to a kid. Also, hopefully, we can do a gas card or two as well...Here again, it lowers some stress levels for Mom and Dad which makes the kid's lives easier.

So, who else wants to jump in on this?!

southern151 12-07-2011 09:03 PM

Any other questions or, may I go home now and watch Sons of Guns? LOL

Kenner18 12-07-2011 09:10 PM

Great Job Guys on making this Happen....now you can go home Cory .

southern151 12-08-2011 03:58 PM

Just received another $100 donation! Thanks guys! We're almost there!

jdm4x43732 12-09-2011 06:25 AM

I'll be fishing out of Cal Point if anyone wants to meet up with me and make a donation to the Salty Cajun Christmas Fund. PM me for my phone number if this works for you.

southern151 12-09-2011 09:02 AM

Got another $50 donation last night! Thanks so much!!!

southern151 12-09-2011 10:17 AM

And, another $100 donation!!!!! AWESOMENESS!

We're at $2830 right now! We're getting close to our goal! That being said, our goal doesn't mean we have to stop at $3000!

jdm4x43732 12-09-2011 09:19 PM

Just sent you my personal donation, gonna try to do a little more on pay day.

southern151 12-11-2011 10:33 AM

Well, I decided to get a little jump start on shopping for the east side family. So far I bought them a $100 gift card to Payless Shoes, a $100 gift card to Lamendola's Grocery for anything non-alcohol/tobacco related and a $100 fuel card to a local gas station! Also, thanks to all the generosity of you guys, I was able to send Johnny $500 to start the shopping for our west side family! I really believe we will make this a great Christmas for these families!

I went to the east side family's house yesterday to let the boys shoot some guns and to try to pin Mom and Dad down on their Christmas plans. These are some great kids and parents!!!! I tell you though, while they don't have much, their family bond and spirit is unlike anything I've ever seen. They were so appreciative of me to, as they said, "take time out of my day" and let them boys shoot some of my rifles. I guess they didn't realize how much of what I was doing was for my personal enjoyment! LOL! I did have to let a little bit of our plans out of the bag to get them to be home Christmas Eve. I finally had to tell Dad that, "I need you to be home on the 24th. Trust me, you guys are going to love it!" While he looked at me kind of curiously, he consented so, we are set over here! That wasn't the approach I wanted to take but, I also didn't want Eman to show up with groceries to feed a small army and no one there to get them!

On a seperate note, after hearing what Mr. and Mrs. Eman are preparing for dinner, I think I may have to sneak in and eat with em! LOL

We're doing very well with this collection, ladies and gentlemen! Thanks to all who have contributed and, let's make a last push to help these very deserving families with whatever we can! There's a duck hunt for one lucky donor!

On a side note...When I got home last night, my lil boy was chanting, "What kind of pizza are you going to get us?!"...Over and over he asked this! Grrrrr! That's when it struck me that the kids we are helping have likely not asked this question in a long time and, damn, I've got it easy, as do my kids! It was a really humbling moment for me for whatever reason. As I stood there, looking around at the comforts of a nice home, a hungry boy dead set on eating Papa John's and the fact that my family doesn't need for anything, I was dang grateful! It was just a moment where ya look up to the sky and, give the Good Lord a wink and say, "Thank You!" Sorry to go on and on but, I felt compelled to share with you guys...

God Bless!

If you have already made a contribution to this, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Remember that, if you make a contribution, regardless of amount, your name will be put in the drawing for a free duck hunt with one of our fellow SC'ers!!! Too bad I can't put my name in there because his hunts have been VERY productive!

southern151 12-15-2011 01:47 PM

I have received another $90 since yesterday for the Christmas families! Thanks guys for making it happen!

jdm4x43732 12-15-2011 09:59 PM

What did we close this thing out at Corey?? We should have went over the $3000.00 mark, I think. I'm back home again today, due to fog going offshore in the morning for 6 days. Mom and Bridgette have each others contact info so everything should fall into place over here over the next week for Thursdays delivery. Mom has the info to take care of the utility bill and will be headed to the meat market for a gift certificate, she also has a $100 gas card she is donating.

southern151 12-15-2011 10:32 PM

I will have final numbers sometime tomorrow. Busy in the shop right now but, I think we are at $3020! The final count will be told tomorrow so, bare with me! Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!

southern151 12-19-2011 09:31 AM

Final number count for the 2011 Christmas drive is $3045! Great work fellas! It will be greatly appreciated by the recipients! I've been shopping this weekend and will try to get pics posted of the east side family's loot later. Mostly, thus far, it's gift cards and some toys mixed in. Again, I'll get some pics later.

SaltERedneck 12-19-2011 09:33 AM

I'll get to the drawing sometime this week. Hectic at the shop and doing my family's Christmas as well as our adopted family's Christmas is stretching me kinda thin right now. I'll have it up in the next couple of days though!;)

jdm4x43732 12-19-2011 03:45 PM

Thanks to everyone who helped with this. My mom met up with the Braquet's and got the clothes for the West Side family. I'm offshore so my mom will be handling paying the utility bill and going get a gift certificate at local meat market. She also donated a $100 fuel card. Big thanks to Mom!!

Raymond 12-19-2011 04:19 PM

I know it is not possible but it would be great to see these folks recieving our contributions. Guess that idea is a little self serving but seeing the joy on folks faces is a priceless picture.

The west side family will not be witnessed by anyone here, from my understanding. Eman, Mrs. Eman and, I will be delivering the east side family's gifts. Really, I'm torn on the deal as to whether or not I want to be there but, I don't think they'll let anyone on the property that they don't know. It will be neat to see the expression of the kids but, Mom and Dad, I'm not sure. I hate to sound like a softy but, if one of em cries, I'm not sure I won't myself.

The above being said, I will give a full report on how it goes on delivery day! However, although the question has come up before, there will not be any pictures taken by us. I did get two disposable cameras for the family so they can take pics if they want. When they are done with them and, if they want to give me copies that they don't mind being published, I'll sure put em up!!!

Again, thanks everyone for your participation in this great event! This type of stuff makes me very proud and humble all at the same time. God Bless you all!:);)

ShadMan 12-19-2011 04:36 PM

Great work, guys!

Looks like I may be stuck offshore but my mom will be taking care of the utility bill for the west side family today. She also will be picking up the food for the Christmas dinner that was donated and headed to slaughter house/meat market to get gift certificates. Best part is she just joined up on here. -Mommy2jcj-
Thanks Frances, aka Mom:-)

Huge and humbling success today! I'll do a better write up tonight after church or tomorrow morning.

God Bless you all for helping with this! We really surprised the heck out of a wonderful family today and, as he said, restored some faith in people by this!
