I am just saying that how can we do better when we are already the best?

I have killed more than my share of mallard limits;) but what does that matter? It is what it is, in the timber of north La that is just what you are offered. If someone kills 100 mallards a year or 100 gadwalls or teal is there any difference? Is someone better than the other? Aren't they all 'ducks'? The obsession with mallards is what drives all this talk.

no DB, the obsession with ducks drives this talk... your right a duck is a duck.. but for us in the south, we dont get mallards, and that is the first duck that people think about when you think about hunting... i mean i was brought up hunting all my damn life and there are only a handful of places down here where you can consistently kill MALLARDS..

I wouldn't mind seeing that. I like seeing older duck hunting pictures, even if it's just from the 90s

I hunted on the plant once this year, I wanna say the blind was called ridge 4. We killed a limit of grey ducks and a few geese. If the water wouldn't have been there we could have killed an easy limit of geese, but we wouldn't have shot any ducks. They wanted in that flooded cut that day, we didn't have a duck decoy one

Been about 6 or 7 years since I hunted there, ever since my cousin Guy gave his spot at the lodge. He has a spot near Boone's corner now.

FACT: There is NOT one shred of evidence of changing dates/limits, that is what started this discussion, we will not know until August at the earliest

FACT: You can argue this til you are blue in the face (provide visual graphs derived from scientific data collection) and not one mind will be changed, especially a duck hunters mind:) Duck hunters are worse than deer hunters when it comes to people thinking they know everything (although this race is close with all the 7 year olds that can age deer by the jawbone and tell the age of a deer on the hoof):D

cgoods17 03-20-2012 01:25 PM

judes is probably the best goose blind on farm now, we quit flooding it about 10 yrs ago

WAY BACK when mallards came to Louisiana. It was almost 70 degrees this entire week. Ducks Unlimited ran out of corn to dump in Missouri and their heater quit running and didn't heat the ponds, the ducks finally made it down:grinpimp:

I got a pretty good idea how limits and seasons are set. Thats why I was asking why on earth we would need a 30 or 45 day season with the numbers how they are right now. If they declined drastically 30 days is fine I don't care. Pretty sure we are gonna end up with a 60 day season again. Guess I should have never brought it up.

This discussion was started because some reporter wrote a story about it in the Lake Charles paper. No one ever anything that this was a for sure thing that was happening right now. Quit arguing with yourself.

cgoods17 03-20-2012 01:30 PM

Top Dawg 03-20-2012 01:32 PM

Just because there aren't any mallards at someones blind doesnt mean they don't come. Just saying. I see and kill great numbers of mallards every year.

Well you're right, we won't know until the may pond counts(which is done in May) and breeding pair counts are done. But we can sure hope for a 30 day season.:)

The population of facepaintin, skybustin, sticker stickin, flappy duck, kazoo playin fools is out of control right now. A 30/3 season will send them back to the golf course.

cgoods17 03-20-2012 01:36 PM
