Actually....if s.c. or Casey don't wanna do it, those of us planning to attend can still fish and hang out? That's what it's all about anyway right?

100% payout wouldn't exactly be a charity event.

I don't have enough help to get this done. I have four sponsors this year that want to donate, I normally have about 40. I have half of the people that normally help me that won't even be in town.

Nobody is more disappointed about this than me. I put four years of work into this only to see it not make this year.

If people want to do it maybe next year people will pay early like we beg every year and offer to help.

Squeaky wheel are you willing to take off work the week of the tournament and go get tables and chairs and set them up? Can you order the t shirts for me? HOw many do we need, what sizes? What about food, can you cook it? Talk to the sponsors let me know if they will reconsider. Will you be the weigh master for us? Do you have a scale? Order trophies? Have a PA system you can setup? This is a partial list, I can keep going.

If you rented a place you can still enjoy the weekend and fish. There just won't be a big salty Cajun charity event and that stinks. I'm with you.

Yep not a problem. You guys can of course still all fish and do whatever you want on your own. You can't use our name or sponsors and we are letting calc point go but you guys can contact calc point and rent it yourself in your own names if you would like.

It's not a matter of Casey not wanting to do it, it is a matter of Casey not having time and not having the help this year for it to be possible.

BassYakR 06-29-2015 01:28 PM

I meant bc this one is canceled take this date that everyone has already planned to take off. And run with it and make it 100% payout since its late notice and wont have sponsors.

I have scales. And i agree completely with this idea. Charities and sponsors make everything very complicated.

mr crab 06-29-2015 01:33 PM

Bring your own chairs

BassYakR 06-29-2015 01:33 PM

Not that charity events arent a good thing.

We participated in fishing for memories this weekend. Great event. Quite a big production tho

mr crab 06-29-2015 01:39 PM

Wacha think about that idea ckinchen? Bring your own chairs and food, let a sponsor chip in if they want, and pay the entry money back to the winners. Would you host that kind of event?

mr crab 06-29-2015 01:41 PM

Just simplify the whole thing. I can't imagine the headache of organizing it in the format of the previous years.

Get with me next year Casey and I will be able to do some of that stuff on your list. And can possibly line up some of the other stuff. I understand how much work it is and I know how busy everybody is this time of year. I did offer my help several times before and I never heard back so I figured yall had it covered.

I always have a bunch of money donated from here in central tx!! And always ask what I can do to help.
Where's this you have no help coming from??

Me and duckman got in trouble lastyear when Yall were going to cancel it!!! Wth ??

marty f 06-29-2015 02:15 PM

Sorry to hear this, guess I'll take some of the blame too, I planned on paying on July 1st. As well If I was closer I would help out.

MathGeek 06-29-2015 02:33 PM

Rather than focus on the disappointment, I'd like to thank Casey, the SC helpers, and all the participants for the great tournaments in the past years and especially for all the donations that were able to be made to the great charities (Little Angels and St. Nicholas Center).

Good deeds, once done, are not undone.

I do. I don't care about a shirt, a door prize, a check, or a meal (although that jambalaya is stellar).....all i want is a trophy and bragging rights when i win.

Yes, we did have the same problem and we were expecting not to have the same issue this year.

Too hard to get shirts, trophies, food, table and chairs when everyone waits until the last minute.

Not to mention all the extra shirts that are leftover each year because we have to guess at the amount needed and size.

Our main issue this year is since we set the date, every moderator and Casey's schedule has changed due to work and personal obligations that have unexpectedly occurred.

We had good intentions again this year and fell short of our goal...... We did not cancel to be ridiculed. It was a decision that was made after hours of phone conversations and hundreds of text messages.

We realize a few people have always volunteered their time to help and we appreciate it but our schedules changed over the last few weeks and we decided since we couldn't deliver the quality tournament our members were accustomed too, that our safe bet would be to back off.

This message wasn't aimed at you Cripley but just a general statement of how the decision was made and why.

ME too not much on the specs, we like to fish the reds but was going anyways with my son, we were going to come thurs-sat

mr crab 06-29-2015 07:59 PM

Bluechip....just scale it back a notch. I think the extra stuff is what causes the headaches. For a lot of us, the best part of s.c. tourney is the camaraderie and trash talk.

I understand..... And is being discussed and will probably happen. But all the extra stuff helped raise money for a charity....and it is a headache but for a great cause.

But that big bowl of jambalaya will be missed lol.

mr crab 06-29-2015 08:11 PM

Some boys had 2 bowls....lol

Just to many obligations. I get into football season after the 1st. Being the head coach for a youth tackle team is huge time consumer. Plus my other son still plays and I also acquired to restaurants over the past year. Just busy and I don't want to deliver a junk tournament to you guys. I went to one earlier this year and it was as as poorly managed as I've seen, I don't want a tournament with my name on it to not be worth you guys time and money and I want it to be successful for the charity. I'm not good at half way. Either all in or out generally.

I am working on a compromise.

AubreyLaHaye458 06-29-2015 09:32 PM

Completely understood Casey. Whatever yall decide is best I support yall

I'll fosh bit not for specks. Couldn't catch one if it was in a tanl and starving. Lol

Trout rivers 06-30-2015 12:19 AM

Specks aren't hard to catch ..... Also Mr. Casey this is a big forum now and still can generate the funds for charity ..... Pass the torch down to someone who can go through with it instead of canceling... maybe Bob ? If he would be up to it? We don't need free burgers and such anyway but this needs to stay a traditional tournament!

I understand y'all's situation and know these things are tough just hate to see a charity lose and not get opportunity for us to get together. As for the shirts I can remedy that problem my wife owns a T shirt shop and we can prep the shirts and make them at the tournament if needed. Any help you guys need on shirts hats decals or anything of that nature let me know. We have some pretty state of the art equipment.
