I was wondering what you had, i remembered you got a new rig...

I had a 1648 with a performance tunnel. It would not run without porpoising with my 40 merc. Lake Area bought it put a Tohatsu on it and it ran fine.

This is what I have. Running it with a 2 stroke yamy 25hp. Runs very shallow, start in water where boat is sitting on the mud in 3 inches of water. Also run an old southfork light weight 20/42 w/ a 25hp 2 stroke merc. This boat will go places the alweld can't.

Are you running no jackplate? I have a 10" setback plate on mine and I think it's too much. I'm running a 40 tohatsu tldi. What prop u spinnin?

I just purchased a 16x42 southfork from Watercraft marine in Beaumont. It was $1900 cash. It wasn't a tunnel, although they did have some 18x42 tunnels in stock. Not sure what they have on wider boats. Very friendly people and $200 cheaper than our local dealer.

No jackplate on either. I'll have to check on the prop....Prop Shop set up both boats years back.

what is the limitations the 10" setback is causing?

Well it's a pain to put in and out of gear and turn all the way. But I've also heard that tunnels run better with the motor closer to the tunnel.

When you put the motor on a jackplate with a tunnel you loose the cone of water coming out the tunnel. Creates alot of prop slip. Defeats the whole purpose of a tunnel. Some people will extend the tunnel with a jackplate but I don't see the need for it.

Bingo, the water does not stay focused to the area of the prop once it leaves the tunnel so the farther back from the transom/tunnel the less water to your water pump and prop so less to grab hence the prop slip.

I just picked up a 17X38 "deep tunnel with skeg" with 25 Nissan.

Do you have any issues with low water pressure to your water pump running that high?

I'm defiantly adding float pods to mine for several reason and a couple more things.

Transducer on tunnel haul

I have a 22' Champion Tunnel Champ. I am wanting to install a transom mounted transducer for a new fish finder I purchased. The boat has a through the haul transducer now but it is out dated. Can anyone give some advise on where to mount the transducer? Any information appreciated.
