Is 27" the limit on redfish? I thought the flyer said "Louisiana legal" which would include one bull redfish per angler? Am I missing something?

If bull reds are in, there are plenty of 20-30 lb fish swimming around in the channel and jetties areas. 30+ lbs would be an exceptional specimen, especially from a kayak.

If bull reds are out, then it comes down to finding the fattest 26-27" long fish, and 9-10 lbs (each) will probably take it. The long term LA average weight of a 27" redfish is 8 lbs. Redfish of that size in big lake have been running closer to 7 lbs the past few years, but once in a while a fish significantly above average shows up.

Yes slot reds only, no bulls.

Actually 26.999" is the limit. 27" is too big

I'll be there for sure, I'm off work.

Yea..... What's Calcasieu Point look like now. Did they build some type of pavilion out there or will we need tents again this year?

Wait..... Thought LDWF rules read 16-27? With 1 over. So I understand it as you can have 4 reds 27 and 1 over? Or 5 reds 27?

What tournament rules we following? Can reds touch the 27 line?

The flyer says "Louisiana Regulations".... I can assure you that no one can measure .001 of an inch on a fish, so don't sweat it. Sign up and come have a good time supporting a local charity.

RAGINJROB 06-29-2013 08:15 PM

Was just curious. When our club measures reds during tournament we allow tail to be touching 27 line. Another club doesn't allow to touch 27 line. I could never understand why they did that.
Just wanted to be clear.

BassYakR 06-29-2013 08:31 PM

In most tourneys if u go to weigh a fish n tail touches 27 in any way ur dq'd no questions asked.
