I am glad to hear that this was correctly resolved. Much kudo's to american rodsmith's for stepping in and doing the right thing. I think i have seen their brand at academy sports before, I have been itching to get another baitcast combo with one of the low profile reels, (lol i'm still slinging abu garcia 5000's). In consideration of this i will certainly take a long hard look at their offerings.

I wonder who was at fault here? Was it a thieving organizer and the rod company stepping in in order to mitigate further damage to its reputation? Or was it the rod company dragging their feet on first prize, hoping the winners would tire of burning calories on a few grand and just give up?

Gulf Coast Trout Series will still go on in 2014. It will have new management and its original sponsors(from what i was told.). David Salinas from the GRS will be running it and we will be fishing. I hope others will do the same.
