Only fished there once in the surf and it was too rough for the trout. I did catch a bunch of rat reds, puppy drum, and channel mullet/whiting drowning shrimp on the bottom. I would think it's good for the trout if it's calm enough. i just know that the fee includes fishing there w/o buying an out of state license. When my brother comes here to visit (he's lives in Ascension Parish), we'll go to Galveston Island State Park for the same reason.
