You may not think I need an AR to protect my house but its the fact that I have a choice to protect my house with whatever I wish and the simple fact that a gun ban on any gun aside from full auto is ridiculous because the gun is not the problem .. There is a long laundry list of problems as to why these people do these things and those are the issues that need to be addressed

No gun should be on a ban list.

Thank you "Wag" & Speck Chaser. Any decent person with some degree of reason and common sense can see that this gun ban needs to be passed and it needs to happen now. As a former Marine, I can see no reason why any civilian should ever be able to walk up to the gun section at Wal-mart/Academy and buy an AR-15 or any assault style rifle. That is just ridiculous. Assault rifles should only be used by military personnel and law enforcement. You do not need an AR-15 to defend your house. I've been in close-quarters combat first hand and the shotgun is actually the 2nd weapon of choice for Marines in CQC (m4 being the 1st choice of course). So I assure you that you can defend your house from a lowly robber trying to steal something from you. Probably not worth killing someone over a robbery in the first place. And if you are still too paranoid, you can still own a pistol. Although I wouldn't recommend having a pistol in the house if you have kids, they're just too easy to be handling and accidentally hurt or kill someone. Lastly, yes I am a strong Conservative and I have been hunting and fishing since I was 5 years old. So please don't come back at me like I am some kind of "hippie/liberal." I am just disgusted at the fact that anyone thinks that they need an assault rifle and that America is going to go to fall apart if we ban the purchase of assault rifles. And let me just answer this question right now before someone asks, yes of course we all realize that this won't take all the assault weapons off the streets (do you think that we are stupid?). But if we stop the new purchase now, maybe a couple hundred years from now there will be very few still left in circulation.

Also there is no such thing as a former marine. Once a marine always a marine. Unless you were dishonorably discharged. Which may explain your views on banning guns.

According to BATFE rules, these records are retained by the seller indefinitely or until the business closes then, they are forfeited to the BATFE.
A firearm can be traced back through research starting at the manufacturer. But, there is no direct link between BATFE unless registered. There is no reason to have your normal rifles and pistols registered.

flounder smacker dont try to explain what being a former Marine means to anyone. You aren't one so all you know is what you hear from real Marines that you may know. Funny how some people on this site are all about "respect" but when someone comes in with a differing opinion they try to drag them down into the dirt.
As a "former Marine" your little attack on Fishdoc has pissed me off. Sorry sob.

So if my family is in the middle of a riot that would take place in my town and guys were burning down houses
I have two ways to defend my family and house
#1 Shotgun with 3 shots
or AR with 50
What would you pick??

I cannot stand the fact that people are making all gun owners feel like they are criminals. A bad person will find a way to cause harm, if that is truly what they want to do.

Exactly. I can make a bomb for you within the next 2 hours. All I need is a tennis ball, pocket knife, 2 boxes of strike anywhere matches, and duck tape. It can be thrown like a grenade and will detonate on impact.
