I don't see an end in sight. This same feeder band has been hammerin' on us since about 8:00. It has not moved west at all. I have never seen it rain this hard for this long. These tornado watches are makin' me nervous...just one after another. My daughter wants to "go somewhere!!!" I told her to come look at the radar and tell me where she'd like to go. Transformers have been poppin' for a hour, but, amazingly....we haven't lost power yet.

Jeff & Justin, if the center would move west just a little bit...y'all would be in the wet stuff. The 1:00 am advisory said it's movin' NW @ 5 mph w/max winds @ 50. I just wish it'd move enough west so we could get out from under this feeder band. It hasn't been as bad the past 30-45 minutes as it's been since 10:00 or so. Just went out and checked my gauge. Looks like we're up to around 11-12"....best I can tell. I don't know how accurate that is since it was rainin' sideways for a couple hours. ;) Bay St. Louis has been under the same feeder as us and they're over 20". I don't know how long that covers, tho.
If you guys want rain...I hope you get it. Wishin' y'all well either way. |

They said earlier the rain gauges weren't worth a flip cause the rain was coming in sideways & weren't accurate at all. So if you got 12" it's probably closer to 20".

This thing is so slow moving. We would normally be talking about the remnants of Isaac by now and it moving through NE US. I'm so ready to get back to normal, I want to see my kids and I want to take a hot steaming dump in my toilet while I cruise SaltyCajun. Hope all of you Guys are doing the best you can out there. POX, Thanks for helping those folks out, you will be blessed. |
Had a light sprinkle in Lake Charles on my way to work at 4:30 and its finally starting to rain here now, hope this means its clearing out or least gonna start giving ya'll in the east a break but I hope it moves on north and don't stick around here either

New flood warning!!!
PIKE COUNTY, MS (WAFB) - The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southwestern Pike County in southern Mississippi because officials believe a dam will fail.
NWS said local emergency management and law enforcement officials reported the Lake Tangipahoa Dam is expected to fail. Forecasters expect severe flooding downstream along the Tangipahoa River from west of the McComb Airport and Magnolia to Osyka. The water level is expected to rise nearly eight feet below the dam to six feet at Osyka. The river stage at Osyka is currently 14.8 feet. The weather service said this is a flash flood emergency for all low-lying areas along the Tangipahoa River, including Osyka. This will put the crest on the tangipahoa river at 21.5 feet ,highest on record. I believe this is the lake at Percy Quinn State park. |

My dad's relief headed out to White Lake to their platform. Road was passable all the way to Pecan Island for sure. You have to turn north by the Fire Station to get to their dock.
|
We're finally getting some rain around here.
At least it's 1/2" per hour instead of 2-3". |

La 1 south bound washed-out between Fourchon and GI per Cheif Dubois. They are going to try to make access avialable today per this mornings conservation. This is 2nd hand info, but from a good source. Does anyone have more info on GI access. Also reports from the Island indicate that the damage is on par with Gustav and Ike. god bless all that have been affected by Isaac.
|
Not sure I will make a call here n let u know
|
GiBob, I seen some pics of the road between GOlden Meadown and GI, it will have to be rebuilt in some spots, half the road is washed out.
|
Anyone know how Capt Hoop is doing? Hope he is alright.
