Today One blind got 11 and the other got 5.. Not good 4 teal, 1 grey, rest spoons and scaup. Going back this evening.

DUCKGOGETTER 12-28-2012 01:21 PM

Talked to fil today and he said that he hasn't heard many good reports from the area. People saying the ducks are there they just are smart and don't decoy.

specktator 12-28-2012 05:02 PM

My spot has been bad last few hunts. Big bucks are moving at my place in St Francisville. Gonna see if I can bust one. And I got a little timber hole up there that should be holding water with all this rain. Been dry.

Finally Things improved for us today, 2 days of poor hunting. Every one slept in except me and the son. We killed our limits... Lot of grey ducks flying. How did everyone else do? Attachment 44550Attachment 44551

Looks like a good hunt

Bucoo 12-30-2012 09:24 PM

Its been fair but it's getting a little better. Limited out yesterday with 12 ducks 2 specks and today we didn't have as much ducks but the geese we shot made up for the ducks we didn't shoot.

all star rod 12-31-2012 02:37 PM

Plan of going the next two days.....this front should move some birds around....

Two hunted our lease today and they shot a spoon, greenhead and 2 specs.

DUCKGOGETTER 12-31-2012 02:45 PM

I'm planning on going on the west side of the big burns in the morning with a freind, but it's been up and down for them.

mallardhead 12-31-2012 03:26 PM

how did it turn out?

Bucoo 01-01-2013 05:53 PM

Ducks were everywhere just nothing was wanting to come in. They didn't like something today. Shot 4 ducks but with the amount that we saw and got to start working, we should have had a limit day.

Lake Chuck Duck 01-02-2013 09:25 AM

2013 guys lets bust some bills!

Lake Chuck Duck 01-02-2013 09:27 AM

We had so much damn water in the front of our blind BEFORE all the rain yesterday. I know every cow field, front yard, and ditch were flooded yesterday morning in south LC. I can only imagine what the blind looks like. Unfortunately we havnt had the duck population this season to consider it a good thing.

all star rod 01-02-2013 09:51 AM

Armand16 and made an afternoon trip to my lease yesyerday and we shot 7...
2 teal
2 mottles
3 mallards

Should of had a few more. Will post pic later.

sounds to me like you need to let it rest for a couple days lol

jchief 01-02-2013 03:38 PM

We used to make evening hunts but quit because we thought it hurt us on morning hunts.

What are y'alls thoughts on evening hunts?

I think I would be in even more trouble with my wife during hunting season if I made them.:shaking:

Nauticstar1187 01-02-2013 09:18 PM

We never really hunt evenings at our marsh so we do not push the birds to hard. Towards the end we do because the mallards start coming strong and its almost the end of the season.

wingshooter 01-02-2013 10:37 PM

Same here. That is more or less a cardinal rule never to hunt your morning spot in the afternoon. Nauticstar, sometimes you need to go where the mallards want to be, especially when they pour in to roost directly off of large lakes.

DUCKGOGETTER 01-03-2013 08:03 AM

I've done some afternoon hunts out in gc, but never really had any success so it's really not worth my time to go out there. I really don't like to do them imo because of the pressure it puts on the birds.

DUCKGOGETTER 01-03-2013 08:06 AM

It's getting close to the end guys and i can't believe it.

lol!!!!!!! Well it's slow here at work. Man you should have some ducks at your spot with all this rain. I saw a bunch the other day in that rice field across from pine pasture rd. Saw a bunch of geese in that area too.

T-TOP 01-03-2013 08:24 AM

1 of our blinds hunted yesterday and got 2 man limits. It's hunting again this morning.

Lake Chuck Duck 01-03-2013 08:24 AM
