Me, Speckdaddy, and i think Mikedatiger are putting heads together as we type on rules, dates, etc.

Offical thread will be up soon so people can put a word in wether they will be here or not!

i am in on this tourney. I will say that we need to have a tourney in the middle of the state as well so the east side boys and girls have an equal chance. I am not saying i couldn't come to your Big Lake and catch fish but I have a small boat and I am not going to get out there too far in that death hole. Not to mention I have a bad taste in my mouth about all the potlickers I saw last Wednesday in Turner's.

QUACKHEAD 11-29-2009 09:03 PM

Why not keep it simple guy's. This is the first tourney. Keep all legal fish. have a fish fry with it after the tourney. It should be more of a meet and greet. if your going to have 5 fish limits, 12-14 in only, 2 man boat / wade. it makes it into a money tournament. not a fun tournament. if its a fun tourney you will get more members to participate. $10 to 20 / head no matter who's in your boat. I have fished many Bass tourney's and when it is for money it's not fun, it's cut throat, arguing and someone smaking the officials. when it's for fun everyone has a good time. on the 2nd tourney make tight rules, $50 or more per head with 2 man teams, life jackets if the motor is running blah blah blah. 20% to a charity.(to help sc look good). but if this is the tourney you guys want, make the rules and who ever wants in is in and who ever decides not to won't. MY $0.02 WORTH.

We will make a way so that if no live well, we will have a way for yall to still fish! We don't want that holding you back from fishing!

meaux fishing 11-29-2009 09:15 PM

i like the idea of a slot 12-20 or something like that and definitely agree with the quackhead keep it cheep and simple and more of a fun event and more people will come....

meaux fishing 11-29-2009 09:18 PM

make live release a choice but do not reward or penalize for it....that way the people that want to release the fish can do it and the people that dont will not have to worry about it

"W" 11-29-2009 09:22 PM

Yep I think alive is a choice some dont have live wells and should not lose out due to that....

We will probably go with live or dead, no penalties or bonus.
We will encourage to release the bigger trout though ;)

Be patient

Wade!
No Wade!
Wade!
No wade, Boats only
Man this ain't the pro tour.

Wade or Boat whateva floats your boat 1 Pot. We have friendly tournaments like this all the time, I don't see why some make such a big deal.

Do it between Christmas and New Years I may be able to make it.

I agree 10000000% if this is a tourney meant to just have another get together than it should be more fun than anything else. Just remember one thing while planning this...more rules = more problems

fishinpox 11-29-2009 09:48 PM

Aslong as it's for sure "wade or Boat", NO live bait....I'm in!

how would you keep 5 trout alive? let them fish live it won't help anyways if you have the tourny soon

Good idea
No weights, best 2 fish limit closest to 36" with a 13"-20" slot, by doing this, it will promote catch and release. If everyone brings one qt bag of fillets you will not even have to clean fish to cook, which means more drinkin and socailizing.:smokin:

Let the Moaning Begin

well Holmes....you'd be surprised at how you can keep a fish alive, when its in your live well, with water

thats why we said live or dead.

LaAngler 11-30-2009 04:31 PM

trout won't stay alive long enough to fill a solid 5 fish creel

catch.and.fillet 11-30-2009 07:08 PM

I'm interested depending on the date.

I like the best 2 fish approach with everyone bringing a bag of filets and BYOB.

To keep it fun, no money awarded, just trophies or better yet, sticker for your boat. All entry money should go to charity or group that promotes kids fishing or to a local school hurting from storms or the economy.

Maybe have two length slots - with a higher entry fee for the longer slot? Call it a "pro" slot. Maybe have a "pro wade" and a "pro boat" and "member" slots? I'd like to see some big fish brought in. (it won't be me)

Everyone that enters gets something in return. And the most of the entry money goes to a good cause....
