Thanks, I have some decent spots on a south wind (and two that are bad on every wind, lol). I have to hunt in Texas on any north wind, north wind is the kiss of death for all of my spots other than my lease in Texas. The Texas lease is damn good on any wind. Very frustrating to get down to the camp in Hackberry and realize you will be looking at the empty sky on a north wind.

Lots of water yesterday and lots of birds. Fixing to leave my camp. Hopefully we have similar results.

Irony: Having teal on your lease that you are going to shoot and it feels like teal season outside.

DUCKGOGETTER 01-12-2013 07:12 AM

Good luck everybody shoot them in the face

Despite terrible shooting this morning we were able to knock down 16 ducks with 3 people. Lost a couple though.

was on the money Sat... I shot some bad shells on sunday. They had gotten soaked and i thought they dried off, but 4 living widgeon say otherwise. bad part about "clicling" with a auto is that you cant cycle to another shell like you can in a pump. Love that gun though. light and no kick.

It had a small nub and a real small leg. I guess the muscles was small from not being able to use them. I picked the bird up and looked at it and thought 'that's weird' so I moved the feathers around looking for the leg and it was no where to be found. Lol Looks like it been like that for a while. Wonder how it happened. My luck it probably had a band on it. Lol

Lake Chuck Duck 01-15-2013 09:00 PM

I killed a speck first split that was a recent amputee. Leg missing from about half way down. Wound looked about a week old.

Reefman 01-17-2013 11:14 AM

End of the season is already here guys . Will be hunting GC Friday, Sat and Sunday. Not looking that great with all that water...will have to hunt the grass where there are a few birds working...no blind hunting this weekend for us. Good luck everyone! Hey DGG, give me a pm.

SaltERedneck 01-17-2013 11:19 AM

Micah I wish that spot would've been there during the 1st split... or teal season!

swamp snorkler 01-17-2013 12:05 PM

Shouldn't duck season start in the middle of December and end the last weekend of Feb? I think more Ducks are down here then than in Novemeber.

Where we hunt it was loaded down with ducks since teal season and our first spilt was great. Come second spit it slowed down a little for us for the most part but we still been doing pretty good.

Wish I can be hunting this weekend but can't due to livestock shows. I might be able to hunt Sunday afternoon to finish off the season if anything.
