There have been some very good arguments brought forth throughout this discussion..."Do we tolerate another language or, should they learn ours?" "Have we become so blinded by people being "offended" that we are now afraid to have one set of rules or creed that our nation live by?C"

In short, my thoughts are that, we are One nation(now divided by multi-culturism). We were designed in this nation to speak one language, whether it be behind the curve of the rest of the world...It's just the way we are. We have been completely polarized by left or right, black or white. We are playing into our gov'ts hand, as well as major corporations(who feeds who in that scenario?). Until we can be ONE nation again, we are divided, regardless of age, race, creed or, sexual orientation. Just think, all of this commercial only fueled the idea that we are no longer one nation because so many of us are indoctrinated now by the multi-cultural mentality.

Once upon a time, German immigrants fought alongside Italians for the USA, in their home country. They believed in the new world. There was a time when they spoke their native language only in the home. Now, some folks feel that the SAT should be written in Spanish and, ebonics so that ALL can pass. Now days, this nation is divided in so many ways that it is destined to fail...Is this the result of a commercial? Of course not! Did this commercial spark a debate for opening the eyes of our nation to our own demise? Perhaps. I mean, just think...Somehow or another, a known socialist and, suspected immigrant was elected and, then, re-elected!

We are allowing our goverment and corporate lobby groups to keep us all divided / hating each other because of our skins, religions, and politics.

I choose to be a libertarian for exactly this reason... I will not choose the lesser evil any damned more. I will not give my consent as a citizen by doing that any more. I recognize that this means that my vote will not help those wearing either red or blue shirts... but am past the point of giving a crap about it. Neither one has either my or this countries interests at heart anyway. They are just there to keep there corporate lobbyist master's happy.

We have been involved in the "war on terror" for longer than ww1,2,korea,and every war since combined. What have we gotten from it... half our personal freedoms stripped away and the terrorists are still going full steam.

We have the highest costs per capita as a percentage of GDP for healthcare of any civilized nation... yet have one of the least effective systems (measure of # of doctors and hospital beds per capita)

We jail a higher percentage of people than most of the rest of the world combined, yet our crime rates are among poorly policed third world country standards.

Our school system (other than to some arguable extent our university's and college's) are a joke, which is still knee deep in the failed prussian model of schooling.

We bicker back and forth about "obama" is the devil and will ruin this country. Or republicans only care about rich people and are going to squeeze the middle class and poor through the grinder.

We scream about Obamacare is going to bankrupt insurance companies and that's the goal of the government... (yet insurance company stocks have ALL skyrocketed since obamacare has went live...) No one says.... well looky here.... if its gonna bankrupt insurance companies then why are they making so much more money???? could it be because they are the ones who wrote the laws to create a system... where it cost significantly more to purchase significantly less insurance... and yet you were MANDATED TO DO IT???....

We chant meaningless slogan's like "they will take my guns when they pry them from my cold dead hands" yet don't mind one bit that the NSA can and does listen and record your every conversation.

We are up in arms over coca cola airing a commercial celebrating diversity, but we ignore the NSA & CIA giving tacit approval to KILL AMERICAN CITIZENS via drone strikes, without so much as a nod to due process (trial by a jury etc) or any of the other values that our founding father fought for.

I will say here... I don't care if your a dem or a pub... stop voting for the lesser of two evils. start voting like you have a pair. non of our founding fathers would have done any less. I will be damned if i will.

I know the Vietnamese girl at work said that after she married an American, she has a 3 year period before she is an actual citizen. I always thought it was immediate, but apparently not. She still has a year and a half left..... There's still hope for a divorce! :rotfl: As far as moving here and going the paperwork route, I have no clue. I would assume you could just buy the right paperwork from the trunk of somebodies car! :work:

Prove a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States; residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing.

If you are at least 18 years old and have been a Permanent Resident for the past 5 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer.

If you are at least 18 years old and are currently married to and living with a U.S. citizen; and have been married to and living with that same U.S. citizen for the past 3 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer, and your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the past 3 years.

Able to read, write, and speak English and have good knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government.

USCIS officers will test you up to 10 civics questions in English and you need to answer at least 6 questions correctly to pass the test.

Good moral character

To be eligible for naturalization you must be a person of good moral character.

If you do not tell the truth during your interview, USCIS may deny your application for lacking good moral character.

Step 2: Complete an application and collect the necessary documents:

The official Naturalization Application Form is the N400 form. You should be warned that N400 is not easy to filled out. There are some questions difficult to understand their meanings. In addition, during the Citizenship interview, USCIS officer will ask you questions about yourself, your family, your employment, criminal background, etc. These questions are normally from N400 form. So in order to pass the Citizenship test, you must understand all the questions on N400 form and be able to answer them on paper and orally during the Citizenship interview.

You will need to send copies of several documents with your application. How many and which documents you will need to send will depend on your individual situation. Step 3: Get Photographed

You must include 2 standard, passport-style, color photographs with your application. A passport picture taken place normally knows the requirements.

Step 4: Send your application, documents, and fee to the Service Center

The fee for filing your naturalization application is:$595.00
The biometric services fee for having your fingerprints taken is:$ 80.00

Step 5: Get Fingerprinted

Once you have filed your application, USCIS will send you a letter telling you where and when to have your fingerprints taken.

After getting your fingerprinted, wait for USCIS to schedule your interview

Step 6: Being Interview

USCIS will send you a notice in the mail telling you when and where you must appear for your interview. You will not receive a second notice.
You should bring the following identification to your interview:
Your Permanent Resident or Alien Registration Card,
Your passport (even if it has expired), and
ny Re-entry Permits you have.
Answer questions about your application and background.

Step 7. Receive a decision

After your interview, you will receive a Form N-652 that gives you information about the results of your interview. Based on all the information you have given USCIS, USCIS will either grant, continue, or deny your naturalization application after your interview.

Step 8: Take the oath and become a citizen

If USCIS approves your application for naturalization, you must attend a ceremony and take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States. USCIS will notify you by mail of the time and date of your ceremony.

You will take the Oath during the ceremony. An official will read each part of the Oath slowly and ask you to repeat his or her words.

You become a citizen as soon as you take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States in a formal naturalization ceremony. Once you have taken the Oath, you will receive your Certificate of Naturalization.
