Let's see your Jon boat

Just getting excited about the possibility of moving to LA and thinking one of these days I'm going to wan to pick up a cool little 12 footer with a 25hp tiller of some sort. I'd like to see what ya'll use for shallow water marsh fishin and huntin. Even if you use it for fishin the ship channel lets see them! If you have any cool customizations lets see them too! I'm really wishin my grandparents wouldn't have sent their 12ft Cajun special with a 25hp merc down to Utah for my uncle to use! This is what I've got to work with at the moment

Thinking about doin some work to it this summer to make it more user friendly.

17x44 Alweld tunnel with 40Nissan TLDI. It ain't real pretty but with two fat boys and a load of tackle it runs around 30mph and does great in a marsh.
I think your boat looks like its ready to handle what you need around here.

14'x48" flat w/ 25 hip merc that I took the middle bench out of and extended the front deck and added an aluminum floor. Theirs pic is from last weekend cutting across a mud flat with about 6" of water!

Looks good guys. I'm want tomdomsome work to my boat but I can't make up my mind. I'd like to rig up some something for holding rods. I have the ones with foam in them along the sides but they are always getting stepped on by my dog or whoever is fishing with me. One main thing I want to do is add a stereo but not sure what to get as far as being waterproof. I'd really like to figure out how to rig up the battery up in the front. With the motor, gas tank, battery, and driver in the back, it takes forever to get on plane. So redistributing some weight my help. Any ideas on handy little improvements you have made?

16x42 southfork tunnel with plenty of manhours in it. 2004 Tohatsu 25hp 2 stroke, runs shallow, quick and dependable. I do wish I would have went with a 48" wide sometimes though

What did it run you to tunnel it? Also curious about ballpark jack plate costs. Lights are a cool idea but at the moment, I have no use for lights. I've thought about rippin the carpet out and lining it with something like rhino lining but the carpet is good still and I don't want to mess up a good thing. Mud doesn't play real nice with carpet...

It's a 1652 Alumaweld with a Yamaha 90. Probably gonna run over to Milton to get me a jack plate soon. I don't think I'm getting the speed I should.

Get a nice box with a cheap stereo they all break. My buddy that installs radios swears by pioneer, he says they hold up the longest in a saltwater environemnt.

You have a big heavy motor on the back...... might help to put some fixed trim tabs or switch to a 4 blade prop. You mentioned the carpet and you might want to take it out. That will help as well. You could also move your gas tank to the front of the boat under the deck. That may help with the weight ditribution and is relatively easy to do.

You have a nice set up just needs a little tweaking. There's lot of guys on here that know more than me and will be here to help you out.

Check this one out...

Dana builds a awesome jack plate....got one on both my boats. Looks like you have float pods on the back, good for holeshot bad for speed.

I have two batteries and gas tank in the front of my boat and it helps a lot for taking off. All you need to do is see if you can fit batteries in front deck and then run wires to trolling motor and then just splice into tour running lights close to your batteries, I have a jetski battery in back just for cranking and it works great plus its lighter back there.

Whats the switch to the left of where you sit?

Whoa! I like that minimalist setup.

I have a 2010 60 merc EFI, can I squeeze some more HP out of it?
