Rant

:pissed::pissed::pissed:.My brother(who is a good mechanic) started working for us about 6 months ago. He at the time had no job and I at the time was up to my eyes in work. I asked him to work for us. Since then I have had nothing but "I'm doing you a favor by working here" attitude.
I really thought I was getting someone who would watch my back while I watched his. I was proven very wrong today.
I support my family(wife and kids)with that shop. Not even blood kin will ever be allowed to endanger that.

no one can screw you over like family my man.......no one

Im still pissed simple. Asked him after work what the deal was and if he wanted to be there. His reply was him walking away.
Kinda screwed myself on this one. He got hurt working on heavy machinery. Noboby that could see his medical record would hire him. We needed help and he needed a job. If I fire him I cut my nieces and nephews monthly income by half and I'm the azzhole uncle. He is a great mechanic and I won't ever try to deny that. It also comes with an extreme amount of arrogance.
One should never forget who signs their checks

pricecb 09-03-2014 08:37 PM

Start interviewing mechanics. You don't have to fire him but when he sees he can be replaced the attitude will reduce.

Or if the budget allows hire a young one that has little or no experience that you can pay a lower wage until he gets the experience. If you end up losing the brother maybe the new guy will have the experience to step up.

I've had the same situations usually they think they can't be replaced.

Thank you Southern 151...

keakar 09-03-2014 08:47 PM

cant you put him on straight commission basis only.

pay based on the billable hours only and deductions for warranty work

basicly turn him into a subcontractor doing extra work for you so interactions are very limited between you

its tough man, god bless and I hope the good lord helps keep your blood pressure down because the only way out is to tell him to get out :(

pricecb 09-03-2014 08:50 PM

How long has he worked for you? It will probably get worse the longer it goes unresolved.

duckman1911 09-03-2014 08:53 PM

Wife is on the phone with Corey right now. lol. They'll figure it out.lol

simplepeddler 09-03-2014 09:06 PM

The whole world should be on commission. It would take care of a lot of problems.

mr crab 09-03-2014 11:31 PM

You need to work it out with your brother. Blood is thicker than water. That's why you threw him the bone in the first place. As men we don't communicate as well as we should in these matters. Too often a big blow up or fist fight is the result from a situation that could have been resolved by some simple sober conversation. I'm speaking from regretful experiences here bud. If your bro needs a gig and you have the means to employ him, do it. Just tell him whats bothering you. Once you level with him, he'll probably respect your position more and the problem will be solved

nepotism

Unless he is on painkillers and is a total *****.

For me, blood is only thicker than eater if your blood isn't taking full advantage of you and treating you like sh**. Special treatment and entitlement don't come from me just because you nursed on the same teet as me.

But then again, maybe I'm the d***

No you aren't a d??k. I completely agree. My job in life is to look out for the well being of three people in this world. My brother isn't one of them.
I do wish that he wanted to be here and wanted to help make the business better for all of our sake. I just don't feel that he wants that.
Goooh I can be a real d??k when I get mad.lol

Everyone has to make there own choices, it's admirable that yall gave him the opportunity to take care of himself and his family when he was down and out.....but that don't mean that you need to go down on the same ship he is in the process of sinking.

Explain to him the problems he is causing.. explain why its not acceptable, explain what behavior you do expect from him, and then put the ball squarely in his court. Either he plays nice or he has to go... business comes before family... that's the ugly hard truth.... the business is supporting multiple members of the family... one of them screwing it up will cause issues for everyone..

with that said... sorry you having troubles my friend... hope it works out in a good fashion for you... as always let me know if i can be of any assistance.
