Offshore?

Just curious if anyone needed to fill a spot for an offshore trip this weekend?
I've only made one so far this year and drooling to get back out there!

Big Kahunaz 06-25-2009 12:54 PM

Hogs

Bout to head out to big lake, get scorched by the heat :pissed:, & catch some GATOR trout! I'll post when I return!

LaAngler 06-25-2009 01:21 PM

i wouldn't mind going catch a ling myself, my ol shimano 700 has dust on it...

Slidellkid 06-25-2009 02:08 PM

Offshore Trip

I'd like to go too. Maybe we can find someone on Salty Cajun with a offshore boat and put together a "Salty Cajun" offshore trip. Anybody game?

fishinpox 06-25-2009 03:59 PM

i had a trip planned on a 65 ft hatteras this weekend but it is a new boat and is not insured in time so we are gone rape the specks instead headed out to grand isle/ fourchon in an hour

southern151 06-25-2009 04:26 PM

Hey, in all seriousness, that would be cool to get some guys together for an offshore trip! I'd certainly be interested in it! Let me know.

LaAngler 06-25-2009 04:34 PM

most of the good charters are booked up for a while, i checked on a couple

we need a Ranger 250C like the one in "Gone Fishin" with Joe and Gus.......:rotfl:

Gerald 06-25-2009 05:02 PM

I have been at the Cameron jetties a couple of time when the gulf was flat calm..........Those rigs out there only looked a few miles away. They were tempting....even in my small boat.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-25-2009 06:59 PM

the first rig is 5 miles out from the cameron jetties, went in some 3-5's in my 22ft, it wasnt too bad

Lets do it Big Kahunaz we can buddy boat, you take the Express and I will take the "SEA ARK". We just need a couple more boats, it will be a large fleet of small outboard boats.

SULPHITE 06-25-2009 08:19 PM

I'm sure we would provide some valuable rescue training...:help:

Slidellkid 06-25-2009 09:17 PM

Nobody has an offshore boat?

SULPHITE 06-25-2009 09:19 PM

Give me about 10-12 years and some job promotions and we gonna be smooth sailin'

Nah...wish I could help...a charter would be the only option.

Big Kahunaz 06-25-2009 11:36 PM

HAHA!!!

Yeah Stealth! That's sounds like a dang good plan! Hell we could tie all the "Aluminators" together and make like a barge w/ an arse load of 25hp motors!
[Stealth, you think you could twist the ole ladies arm for a tuna trip next Thursday?]

Here's an idea! (Time share) 36ft Sailfish for the site! Site sponsored and everyone here splits time and costs! :*****:

Big Kahunaz 06-25-2009 11:48 PM

Big Lake afternoon report

Got out there and after first stop on East bank produced a few topwater blowups, winds decide to start kicking so headed south. Worked reefs on southend coming up with one or so here and there but found no size as I haven't been able to scrounge up a pattern since getting battered for the McDonald's Tourny on Toledo. I succumbed to working birds on way in for 2 shy of a 2 person limit. Sorry no pics! There wasn't one fish in the chest worthy of taking up space on SD card!

Anyone on a good sized trout bite pattern feel free to pm me. Was on a pattern and got burnt out after spending every day possible on lake pre star and post till that dang old freshwater tourny sent me home drained. Been 3x this week all evenings 2pm till dark and banging all the spots, only to leave scratching my head! Pretty frustrating but I must prevail!

Big Kahunaz 06-26-2009 01:16 AM

Oh yeah! How bout dem Tigers!

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-26-2009 01:33 AM

nothing like it in the world man, nothing like it

B-Stealth 06-26-2009 09:55 AM

Wow Kahunaz, it would take some extra grande Kahunaz to even ask the ol lady about a tuna trip. (We are still in the hospital with a 2 day old kid) On the bright side I got the green light for a new duck lease. OHHH YEA!!

Slidellkid 06-26-2009 10:32 AM

I talked to a couple of charters awhile back and for an offshore rig hopping trip for snapper, ling and some amberjack it was going to cost $800. That was for 5 or 6 people can't remember exactly. If there are a few of us that would like to go, I will put in the leg work to find an available charter. Now a Tuna trip would be fun, but that's a lot more expensive. Who's interested?

southern151 06-26-2009 10:49 AM

for 5 people, that would be $160 per head, right? Is that poles and all included? I don't own anything for offshore really. If that is the case, put me in. I'll need to do it soon though cuz 7-12s will be back on soon with turn-arounds.

LaAngler 06-26-2009 10:58 AM

Tuna trips are around 300 a person for six people i'm going on one out of Grand Isle on sunday...I'll post a report...I'm down to put in on a trip depending on the dates

Big Kahunaz 06-26-2009 12:28 PM

Angler, im in for tomorrow.......only no boat...not for blue water. Otherwise if someone is putting together a trip for snapper, ling, and hopefully dolphin on a rip....count me in. Definitely COUNT ME IN! Week or weekend! Only thing is we have a tropical in the Gulf at the moment. MEAUX...Who are you chartering for 300 per person out of G I? Let me know.
Stealth, yeah i figured but doesn't hurt to ask. At least i'll get to hunt with ya on your new lease!
Well, its off to BIG LAKE

Big Kahunaz 06-26-2009 12:30 PM

i can look into making one if there is enough interest or if it will possibly attract more offshore people.

Slidellkid 06-26-2009 01:05 PM

I look into some charters and get some of their available dates and then get back to you guys. I assume it includes the rods as most folks don't own offshore stuff. I'll have to check to see if it includes fuel but probably not. We should probably try to do it two or three weeks out to give us enough time to get everything straight.

LAangler, I think an Offshore section is a really good idea.

Big Kahunaz 06-26-2009 01:05 PM

THUMBS up for that....I'm looking into making a worldcat purchase soon so it'd be nice.

Big Kahunaz 06-26-2009 02:29 PM

Hey Kid, im in....keep me updated with the info!

eman 06-26-2009 02:46 PM

off shore

some bottom trips include fuel as the capt knows he doesn't have to run an gun. But tuna/ blue water trips are cost + fuel as you may run 70 miles or you may run 200 miles.
grand isle / fourchon is probably the best jumping off point for all the west siders.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-26-2009 04:54 PM

I definately want in on this

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-26-2009 04:54 PM

meh, fourchon really isnt much closer than venice when you think about it.

speckdaddy 06-26-2009 07:02 PM

hey guys, hopedale hustler works n knows a guide down in venice. i also know of a guy at acadiana marina that charters ill give him a holla ta see for prices. id like a lil bluewater trip with you guys if we can set it up that ok?

eman 06-26-2009 08:23 PM

yep

Big,
You are allmost right.
There's only 50 miles difference in travel from lake chuck to fourchon and venice.
and the better and safer run by boat would be from venice. worth the extra car time.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-27-2009 01:22 AM

the trip to grand isle takes forever because of the turns and stops

The trip to venice is a straight shot

Big Kahunaz 06-27-2009 10:28 AM

Sumone posts some 4 Sures and let me in on this thang! Let's make this happen!
Hek I'll be back from the johnson bayou camp tonight and start making calls tomorrow so we can get this show on a roll!
I need a quick fix and blue water fishing cures everything!

Capt. Ryan Rachunek 06-27-2009 10:54 AM

I'd be down to go on a Venice Tuna trip..... It's been a few years since I've been over there.....

southern151 06-27-2009 01:00 PM

Count me in so long as it's a weekend. I'm busy on the weekend of the 4th but, will be coming available after that.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-27-2009 04:44 PM

ill do whatever i can to help the process out because im definitely down

Slidellkid 06-27-2009 09:09 PM

I got aquote from Capt Tommy Pellegrin. Rig fishing is $1050 plus fuel. Red Snapper season goes out on August 15. Anybody else have any numbers from any charters?
