Shot shells

Whats your favorite brand of shotgun shells for duck hunting????
Whats your favorite size shot and load?
Whats the best middle brand or reasonably priced brand??

I've always shot winchester drylok 3" #2 or #3...Now the load I'm not sure of??

Inputs and suggestions???

huntin fool 10-27-2009 05:04 PM

I've always shot Win.Drylok 20 gauge 2 3/4 number 4's. Knocked geese down with em.

I switched to remington shurshot high volicty, 2 3/4 number 4's and love em

CatDaddy 10-27-2009 05:31 PM

Same here... WHatever is cheaper.. When you are a good shot like me, you dont need all that heavy shot, or bismuth... lol

I usually grab the Estate 3'' #2's... best all around shell for ducks and geese i think

Red Devil 10-27-2009 05:33 PM

Estates or the Kent Fasteel. Both in 10 and 12 gauge. Work good for me.

Ray 10-27-2009 06:01 PM

I shot Estate since they were sold down here.
The price of them things were way less than the big brand names.
And they can knock down ducks just as good as any other shells.

yak'em-n-stack'em 10-27-2009 06:29 PM

i shoot the X-pert 3 inch 6 when i can find them

or a 3 inch number 4

LaAngler 10-27-2009 06:43 PM

3 inch 2's, estate/kent

speck-chaser 10-27-2009 06:44 PM

I always shoot estate 3 1/2s #2 or 3 Really good shell for the price

Deadly D 10-27-2009 07:08 PM

I use to shoot estate but went to Kent 3' #4's &3's they are a little cleaner on the gun

yak'em-n-stack'em 10-27-2009 07:10 PM

SULPHITE 10-27-2009 08:17 PM

no probs with hangups with kent???

adamsfence 10-27-2009 08:21 PM

i shoot a benelli they shoot anything

SULPHITE 10-27-2009 08:22 PM

absolutly love their show on outdoor channel...got'em all on DVR!!! they are some hardcore dudes for sure!

I got the new browning maxus and am contemplating shooting some technically lower end shells just to she if she'll eat with no prob...

adamsfence 10-27-2009 08:27 PM

i do too i was on the outdoor channel website trying to watch them but they aren't on there...can't never seem to catch them while i'm home....maybe one day i'll have me one of them dvr's

SULPHITE 10-27-2009 08:36 PM

they are worth it...love mine

all star rod 10-27-2009 08:43 PM

Kent to me is the best. Fasteel...3" 1-1/4" #3 or #4 for ducks. For geese and later on the season since I mostly hunt in a rice field I use 3-1/2" 1-3/8 #2.
BTW, Benelli is the best.....what is their motto "Performance worth the price"

cordgrass 10-27-2009 08:46 PM

kent 3" #3s two years not problem lot better than estates.

SULPHITE 10-27-2009 08:48 PM

best place to get kent in sulphur/LC area??

all star rod 10-27-2009 08:59 PM

Not sure about the LC area. But their is this place in Kaplan called ED's sporting goods and he has a large selection of Kent shells.

Wow you must be rich. Have you priced 3" Dryloks this year there a little rich for my blood. Fast steel, estate, Kents works for me.

I have never had any problems that i can think of from the lower end shells.

Red Devil 10-28-2009 01:24 PM

The only problem I ever had with the estates would be they rusted pretty quickly. Other than that, no problems at all.

all star rod 10-28-2009 02:01 PM

Sulphite is loaded with $$$$$$$$. Why do you think he is a MOD....Only the RICH and POWERFUL are Mods on this site~~~Suprised he does not shoot Bismuth Shells....:grinpimp::D

SULPHITE 10-28-2009 02:03 PM

I sure didn't know that. I may have to pick up a few boxes next time I'm on my way back from Cameron and check them out.

I dunno who makes them... I think it might be a local thing... Im not sure, I may have even herd them say its the same thing as Fiocchi..

I have even bout a few cases from a guy that comes to the hunting camp.. He comes every year with a brand called "Lavyalle" or something.. came out to 8 dollars a box for some 3'' #2's..

all star rod 10-28-2009 04:19 PM

LostCajun 10-28-2009 04:25 PM

i like me some Hevishot 3 1/2 inch 10 gauge tungsten wen im hunting in timber....when im in marsh i shoot 3 inch x-pert hi vi's 2 shot...

H2OFwlKlr 10-28-2009 08:31 PM

X-PERT

Winchester X-Pert ( the one's with the mallard on the front of the box)

They are 2 3/4 high brass but only 1 and 1/16 oz of shot, 1550 FPS, I like them in #4 shot. They are fast as heck, less lead is needed, and they hit hard!

You can get them for about $8 a box at wally world when they have them.

I use to shoot all the big heavy loads, 12 and 10 guage, but I had a brother in law always shoot these and he could knock down anything I could. Made a believer out of me!

Shoot these with my Extrema 2 with the kick-off, and no more recoil, those days are over. I quess we do get wiser with age!!

Shawn Braquet 11-03-2009 10:05 PM

Shot dryloks #2s in 3inch for years but now its nothing but Kent 3 inch #2s or BB in 1 1/8 oz really lets the black eagle 2 reach out and grab them ducks when the other guns or being lowered and no problems with jamming and thats with the black eagle 2, benelli nova, and 870

Shawn Braquet 11-03-2009 10:08 PM
