Help me out guys ......

Hey Guys , Im about to retire and have decided to bite the bullet and buy me a new boat. Had many boats in my lifetime but never a brand new one. Wanting a center console , white, aluminum, no more than 115 h.p. (four stroke buy the way), will rig myself with electronics and troll motor (not a factor) , 18 to 20 ft. If you were to be in my shape , what boat and where would you buy it ? Help me out here and im saying i appreciate all your input . By the way, i also fish freshwater some if that make any diffrence. (crappie and bass) . Thanks again. TJ

X2. Or Scullys in Morgan City, also Gaudet's in Sorrento. Cost would be a little more but you can build it exactly to your specs.

Great looking boat for sure ! I looked at Rangers first. Only problem i came across is the hull thickness. Im pretty sure Ranger tops out at .100.
Im pretty well set on .125.

Definitely look into excel baypro. I own a 220 baypro. LOVE IT!!!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Rjrobin2002 03-15-2017 09:49 PM

Definitely get .125", express has a 21' available with .125 that tend to be east to find cheap and slightly used.

tonyjohn 03-15-2017 10:37 PM

yea, thanks guys im gonna keep looking and thanks for the suggestions. im sold on .125 hull thickness. went and talked to a dealership today about the G3 Bay20 DLX . Very nice looking boat but with a 150 yammie 4 were looking at 32.5k without troll motor or electronics. Like i said , never bought a brand new boat and starting to think i never will ! lol . i know that 3-4k for troll motor and electronics is the norm nowdays.
If Anyone knows of a 19 to 23 ft. bay with .125 hull im definately in the market.
I also looked at some older threads that were bashing aluminum bay boats ? Can some of you give some serious advice on this ? Im just thinking the corrosion resinstince and light weight of them for us guys that trailer alot could benifit ?

was just looking at the Excel Bay 203 video with Bill Atkinson, very nice looking boat . Looking for a local dealer now.
BTW im so pizzed at alot of websites that show boats (boat trader for one) that accepts their ads without a price ? dang, if you want to sell a boat , NAME YOUR PRICE ??? how hard is that ? ive seen so many i may be intrested in but when i see no price i instantly click to something else . heck with em ..............

redaddiction 03-15-2017 11:37 PM

I'm the same way. I'm not going to contact you for a price, list it with the product and if I like the price I'll contact you! Have you looked on Louisiana Sportsman? They have a pretty good classifieds section but beware of scammers.

Corrosion shouldn't be an issue if you wash and flush your boat after each use, I have a 15 ft Lake Charles special that I bought New in 1996 and all still works great, it's caught fish on both coasts and all around here with no issues just have to wash after use![emoji41]

Nice, Where did you end up buying it from? Those are nice.

tonyjohn 03-30-2017 11:57 PM

bought it from Sunrise marine center in Searcy Arkansas. Had a few hiccups along the way . all that said they tried to seduce me . I can elaborate further but i didnt budge . more in pm's if your interested. Only reason i didn't buy down your way because ive decided to keep my house here and its close to the dealership. You guys have brutal summers and if i keep my house here i can escape here and just crappie fish . ps, i have a 75 lb minkota hand steer salt water 24v and some kind of electronics for sale . ??? i think a helix 5 but was pizzed when i left . so now i own all of the above.

I just rebuilt my old Cajun special. 17 ft mod v. 70 horse, manual jack plate. Fast and skinny!

Bought this boat in 95 had a 35 merc had been used a few times by old folks and parked in the garage.

Aluminum in great shape. Been all over big lake and Sabine, and freshwater. No issues. Just RINSE EVERY TIME! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...176d58f203.jpg
