All that peer pressure got to me .....LOL

meathauler 08-16-2011 08:07 PM

Trey, I did it for 25 years also and three years ago I said enough. My best friend said how can you pay $4 buck and just spit it out. He said at least I eat my $4 bucks. LOL One day I said let me be stronger then the addiction and try this. Never looked back and it gets easier the longer you do without.
DONT GIVE IN AND IF YOU DO, THEN YOUR DONE.
The urge while drinking and after eating just killed me. Now I eat a lil debbie cake haha

Kenner18 08-16-2011 08:10 PM

Duck season is gonna be the test ..Nothing like a dip and killin ducks. At least I wont have to worry about my calls stickin from the tobacco.....lol

BIGJ 08-16-2011 08:16 PM

I quit about 1 1/2 years ago cold turkey. Never took a dip since. Some days I wanted to when I would get mad for some reason. Just wanted to spit on something:D I don't chew gum neither.

SaltERedneck 08-17-2011 07:59 AM

When I quit I ate my arse off.... stayed in the kitchen munchin on stuff. gained a few pounds from it. Unfortunately i took up smoking a year after. Seeds work well.

jaclyn.renea 08-17-2011 08:12 AM

Congrats and keep up the good work!

joshdomingue 08-17-2011 10:17 AM

Good luck man ...... i've heard it's harder than quiting smoking, but you can do it!!!

Ray 08-17-2011 10:27 AM

I got them smoking patches to help me.
Nicotine is nicotine.
I dipped Skoal from the time it was 35 cents till it got to $1.50.
I like it, but quit cause of the price. I think it was around '91 when I quit.

mark29860 08-19-2011 09:00 PM

trophytroutman 08-19-2011 09:45 PM

Good luck.Been dipping since 1982.Been wanting to quit tried couple times but never stuck with it.Gonna try for the 3rd time and was told its not just the nicotine but just the feeling of having something between you lip and gum so im gonna try the shredded beef jerky that comes in a can.Agian best of luck and hope it happens for ya.

oldwelder 10-21-2011 09:46 PM

How is it going ? I quit after a heart wrenching comment from my 15 year son. Jan 3 2010. Dipped for about 30 years.

Kenner18 10-21-2011 09:54 PM

So far so good .Its been tough some days ,and I still find myself looking for it when Im fishing.

Micah 12-20-2011 11:03 PM

Hope everyone that quit is still on that path.

I been dip free for a few months now after 10 yrs of it. What sucks is, its gettin harder everyday now to not buy a can. Been like this for the last 3 weeks or so. Worst part is substituting food for dip...I eat like a f-ing pig now:banghead:

mcjaredsandwich 12-21-2011 12:32 AM

I havent bought a can in months. Still smoke about a pack a day. I have had pouches but I do not crave it. Last time I regularly bought was early may. Feels nice to not have my gums hurt

jchief 12-21-2011 09:29 AM

Good luck guy's. If I can do it, yall can too. I have NO will power.

SaltERedneck 12-21-2011 09:37 AM

when i quit one thing i take up another... usually just start dipping a little to stop smoking then booom full blown addiction to dipping. vice versa. its vicious. a year ago i dipped a can every two days. now i smoke a pack every two days.

Dink 12-21-2011 12:58 PM

Chantix is the bomb!! Quit a month ago. I have 1 from time to time, but I don't even think about it anymore. I had 2such in one night while drinking with zone friends and I felt sick after

phiboyy13 12-21-2011 08:33 PM

Chew on strawws thats how my dad quitt.

Montauk17 12-21-2011 08:38 PM

Quiting tabacco can be a bit.....Been over 9 months since I smoked a caner stick. On the down side I went from 235 to 255. Gotta start hitting the weights after the holidays.

Micah 12-21-2011 08:42 PM

Took a dip this morning while duck huntin and almost threw up. Got really sweaty and dizzy...had to sit down, lol. Been a LONG time since dip did that to me...I'm done!!!!

Kenner18 12-21-2011 09:59 PM

OK I didnt make it. I broke down and started again in November .It was a bad month ,I know its no excuse . Im gonna give it up eventually one way or another.

Garfish 12-21-2011 10:48 PM

After chewing and dipping and a lil smokin, while playing baseball, being in the outdoors and then while coaching high school sports, I finally quit cold turkey in 2000. Haven't had one since or the urge. When I first quit, I hit hard on the sunflower seeds and the pistachios. It filled my mouth and gut, so I guess that helped me kick it. I'd probly puke at the smell of a dip now. Know of a distant cousin of mine diagnosed w/ throat cancer a couple years back caused by dipping, so that made me think even more about not doin it.

j.e.hagen 07-21-2012 05:24 PM

dont convince yourself you can take one and get back on the same track been dipping for about 8 years and went three weeks thought i was tobacco free and smoked a cig went another week or two and thought i could handle one dip and now i dip again so keep all the little tips in your pocket you will get cranky after a week and hungry like the man said just be better than the addiction after two weeks you wont be as edgy
