Mottle duck drake, call the band in and they will tell you
|
Thanks fellas. The green speculum on the wing was throwing me off. Have only killed mottleds with mostly blue. I've called it in and am currently waiting for paperwork.

Nice kill congratulations. Every time I shoot a Mottled Duck I think it will have a band on it, but it has not happened to me yet. Where did you get him? Please post the band results when you get them. He was more than likely banded not far from where you got him...

Killed in welsh and the guy over the phone confirmed it was banded in cameron

Mottled duck for sure.. Most mottled ducks "I'm told" stay pretty local. Killed 2 banded mottled birds in Grand Cheniere and both were banded there FYI. So there must be some truth to them staying local.

Congrats. Definitely a drake Mottled duck. I killed one at Sabine Refuge that was banded in Port Acres, TX. It seems they move up the gulf coast during the winter. And possibly down.

They got mottleds up along the east coast. Buddy was a game warden way back and said LDWF would trade our mottled ducks to other states for other critters and thats how some of them got there |
Mottled duck for sure..

We traded the East Coasters Mottled ducks for nutria, we sent a bunch of coonasses up their and trapped all of the nutria for alligator food when the alligator population was very low around the 40's. |
Traded them for turkeys and other critters
They got mottled populations way further than along the coast. Got some in far north LA and even in Arkansas. If I tell you the moon is made of cheese you better get some saltines |

I found some information on some experimental populations in South Carolina, but that's it. And those birds came from Texas, Louisiana, and Florida back in the 70s and early 80s. Sorry if I don't believe someone whose posts appear largely satirical, or that claims legs as the "tell-tale" identifying feature for a duck. Maybe there is truth to what he says, but when you spout bull**** all the time, it's hard to believe. Anyway, the topic at hand was what the duck was. It was answered. All this hoopla about where mottled ducks may or may not be is largely irrelevant. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk |

Cousing lives in Bonita and tells me they got a breeding population of mottleds on Upper Oua****a which is real close to Arkansas and he hunts in Arkansas and has killed mottleds there. The moon is made of cheese, get the crackers |
