Cell phone providers

Anyone have their cell phone service through AT&T? My company offers a discount and I was thinking about switching from Centennial. Anyone have any feedback on AT&T? Thanks

FF_T_Warren 05-08-2010 02:06 PM

they good. thats pretty much what most of the country uses. It has its flaws, but so does everyone else.

Red Devil 05-08-2010 02:14 PM

Thanks. Yeah they all have flaws, but I keep it basic. No email, or pics and crap like that. Not too sure an 8% discount is worth the switch anyway. Hell I've been with Centennial for over 10 yrs. Like they say, don't fix what ain't broke.

FF_T_Warren 05-08-2010 02:18 PM

well, idk how good centenial is(honestly never even heard of them) but I like att. and I certainly wish I could get a discount

eman 05-08-2010 02:52 PM

AT@T

Been w/ them forever.
Only problem i have had /have is That when in grand isle / fourchon sometimes their signal gets hijacked by petrocom. and It's up to me to pay those charges. Isn't bad now that i know about it .The first time it happened i had 2 teenage boys down there for a rainy weekend and wasn't much fishing going on. They stayed on the phonne all weekend and ATT sent me a bill for almost $300.00.
I ended up paying $100 as my phone never said roaming just extended and i had the nation wide plan.
But they did inform me that there was nothing they could do about it and any future charges .

I had Verizon for years and could never get service at Big Lake and only very limited service in Grand Isle. I switched to AT&T last year and while I drop more calls with AT&T in the city the service in Big Lake and Grand Isle (the two places I fish) is great. I was on the phone with a clinet two weeks ago on the south end, had a 20 mintue conversation with no problems.

I will say that out of the big cell phone proivders AT&T's custmer service usually ranks near the bottom. Of course if you never have a real issue customer service is a non factor.

Red Devil 05-08-2010 03:18 PM

Thanks for the info guys. I just checked the plans and I think I'm going to stay with my current CPP. AT&T plan cannot touch my current plan as far as price.

Jordan 05-08-2010 03:51 PM

Where @ ?

Red Devil 05-08-2010 03:56 PM

My camp is up in Sikes. You have to go about 1/2 mile down the road to the top of a hill to get phone service.

"W" 05-08-2010 04:24 PM

My company has a discount ,its 40% your bill.....Plus they pay me $35 a month so my bill is real cheap for me........Just dont cover lost phones on Big Lake...Cant seem to get that on in yet

Dink 05-08-2010 04:26 PM

I had centennial for many years, recently changed to Verizon for the android system.......

DO NOT CHANGE!!!!

I used to have a signal everywhere......middle of v-bay, couldn't see land, my phone would ring........

Now, dog farts to loud, I lose service........

Dink 05-08-2010 04:27 PM

RD.......sitting in the middle of shrburne one time, I got a call.......looked at phone......4 bars......centennial is awesome if all you do is make calls......

specktator 05-08-2010 05:29 PM

I switched from nextel to AT&T. I had to drive 6 miles up the road to get service on nextel. Now I got full service in my stand with AT&T. Only flaw i think is that that drop alot of calls.

fishinpox 05-08-2010 05:43 PM

i got att and i ALWAYS drop calls 3-7 per day service sucks

LPfishnTIM 05-08-2010 05:54 PM

I had sprint for 3 years and it was cheap $36 a month. I switched to AT&T pay $52 a month for same amount of service, except I can actually pick up a signal most of Louisiana now! sprint works well in major cities as long as your by an interstate highway.

I cannot stand ATT right now. Their plans cost too much and I drop way too many calls. I love my iPhone but I cannot stand the service. I would love to switch to Sprint and get a Droid phone, but their service seems to stink.

Red Devil 05-08-2010 06:18 PM

Ya'll are really making this an EASY decision now.

fritz20 05-08-2010 06:22 PM

A buddy of mine works in the cell phone industry and according to him ATT's network is overloaded with iPhone users. Their efforts to update the network are slow and they seem to not really care. Heck I can hardly blame them... we are still paying for our plans so why would they bother?

That makes all the sense in the world.

tcglsu 05-08-2010 06:57 PM

i have both ..my personal phone is att and my work phone is centennial... i cant rag either one of them ..when one dont have service the other usually does .. i dont ever have dropped calls with att

Bluechip 05-08-2010 07:54 PM

How you liking your Droid? Mine grows on me everyday. I found this Texas hold em app...lets you play real time online. Life is good

longsidelandry 05-08-2010 08:31 PM

My wife had AT&T and I have been with Nextel for around 7 years, she just recently swapped over to Nextel because she was tired of having dropped calls all the time and not having service in alot of the places that I did.

fritz20 05-08-2010 09:13 PM

If I would switch to Sprint my wife and I could both have Droid phones with tons of minutes, unlimited text, unlimited web, and a bunch of other cool stuff... all for 60 bucks cheaper then what we pay with ATT. However, I am very skeptical about their coverage in my area.

I have Verizon...I like them

fritz20 05-08-2010 09:20 PM

I had them and their coverage was much better then ATT. If I don't switch to spring I will probably end up back with them. However, their plans cost the same as ATT which sucks cause I wanted to save a few bucks so I could buy more Sand Eel Jrs

speck-chaser 05-08-2010 10:18 PM

Ive been with Att/cingular since the days of the suitcase-bagphones. Ive never really had any problems with them till 3g came along. Lots of dropped calls now,and just sometimes some strange things that happen during a call.

adamsfence 05-08-2010 10:27 PM

Att is to high i ran out of minutes when i switched. switched back before my 30 days was up. the free incoming is a big plus for me

whunter29 05-09-2010 12:14 AM

Hey RD I am on AT@T and I had no signal up at the camp plus I have dead zones on 167. Plus while driving around I drop tons of calls. At@T sucks in my opinion.

Centennial in our area will soon be Verizon. Supposed to be in June when the switch is made. Hope our service stays the same or get better.

AT&T doesn't work in some of the businesses around Jennings and the hospital.

Pat it doesn't matter who you have service with up there. Unless you are up on THE hill, your phone won't work. Not at the camp site anyway. Some guys say they get service in their stands.

They did buy most of Centennial, but Verizon bought from west of Lake Charles to east of Lafayette and Eunice south.

i've heard the same thing about AT&T's network upgrades. i'm not too happy with their service here in Tejas.

flyphisher 05-10-2010 02:44 PM

I had ATT before, and no problems. Been with Verizon for the last 2 years, wife got a special via work as they have about 60 phones with Verizon. I've been happy with it. I always tell people to see which provider has the best coverage in the areas you frequent. About 4 years ago I had Alltell, if I went 15 miles north of my house, I was roaming and it would kill the battery searching for a signal in 2 hours. Did the same if I went to Houma, and FORGET about Grand Isle.
