If Jordan slammed his rod in the tailgate, how'd it break in 2 places. Case closed

billystix custom rods 05-12-2010 12:43 PM

going to shipto jordan on thur

yall get ready, i am going to ship this rod on thur so it should arrive in sat's mail depending on the local post office hub, if it has enough carriers it will be sat if they are a small hub then it will be mon before it's delivered.
so jordan if you dont get it in sat mail i can give you the track# and you can go to your post office on sat and pick it up, but i would like for as many people to get a look at it as possible because i would like to build some more of the salty cajun spirals it looks a lot better in hand than the photos.

Jordan 05-12-2010 02:36 PM

yak'em-n-stack'em 05-12-2010 02:47 PM

I broke 2 HIGH dollar custom rods within a week. One just casting, the other I was hung & pulled back & broke in the exact spot as the other. Both rods were bought at the same time & were less than a month old. Come to find out the rod manufactor had a problem with their machine, the poor guy that built the rods had like 15 rods in 2 months time come back.....wasn't his fault or mine. The rod manufactor found the cause & replaced the blanks for free.

yak'em-n-stack'em 05-12-2010 02:58 PM

it broke in two places?

yak'em-n-stack'em 05-12-2010 02:59 PM

i dont doubt that a rod could break.

but in two places?

Billy, you are a true craftsman! Great work!!!!!

speck-chaser 05-17-2010 08:01 AM

A few years back, I had a rod break on me in 2 places while setting the hook on a bass. I was fishing with a worm and the thing had wrapped me up in some lilies. It was one of those "expensive" quantam rods from Wal Markkkkks. I did get to catch the bass. He was all of 1.5 lbs. The rod was only a couple of months old.

I was simply backing up your story, cause I had the same thing happen to me. Several p eeps was wondering about the rod breaking in 2 places, but mine did the same thing. I just think it was prolly faulty blank, cause I set the hook the same as I always do.
