New Dog?

I am looking into possibly getting an English Bulldog. We already have a Miniature Schnauzer but want to increase the size of the family. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this breed and wanted to share. Also, if anyone knows of a reputable breeder that doesn't want an arm and a leg that would be great as well.

Yea. I want you to get one

No I love bulldogs

Huge upkeep. Weve had several and if ya plan on keepin him putside dont get one. Their wrinkles need to be wiped clean daily and lubed so they dont get rashes. Also they cannot take the humidity we have here. Just my two cents on bein a previous owner

2 Guys at the camp have them....both females. You would think they're lazy:shaking:....They don't stop!!!! Cool dogs though, built like tree stumps.

I'm a vet and love the breed but try to discourage people from buying one. The initial expense (purchase) is very small compared to upkeep. Love the breed , just not cheap to own.

agreed...my cousin has one and it requires more upkeep than she does...:D

Med...did you just watch sherlock holmes???

ShadMan 05-24-2010 04:05 PM

They are also notorious for heart conditions. Typically have a short life-span.

actually i did! I didn't even think about the dog in that movie. that is hilarious.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 05-24-2010 05:29 PM

Thanks everyone for your input. I think the wife and I are leaning towards another miniature schnauzer. They are great little dogs and are lowest of low maintenance.

huntin fool 05-24-2010 05:46 PM

That what we've always had is mini schnauzers...the one we have now is a "toy" brown shnauzer. Little ?>?> barks like a ....

Mediumheavyaction6'6 05-24-2010 05:49 PM

mine has had a healthy dose of discipline since it was a puppy. He doesn't bark unless someone drives up and even that is only once. They really are a wonderful breed, with the lack of shedding and how well behaved they are.

Salty 05-24-2010 05:53 PM

My son's ex-girlfriend had one that looked exactly like "UGA". They don't take the heat too well. Ever noticed "UGA" sittin' on a bag of ice in the middle of December? They're cool dogs but not for me...too high maintainence.

simplepeddler 05-24-2010 05:55 PM

Basset hounds...........
But I have three .....Very low maintenance

Boykin Spaniel, smartest dog I have ever owned. If fact you do not train them, you educate them.....

But yes, get the bulldog I have always wanted one!!

We had a female before him, best schnauzer we've had...We have a male, stubborn little turd!!!! He's cool tho

Big Lake Blondie 05-24-2010 06:37 PM

I'm partial to my mini daschunds, but my sister has the schnauzers and they are a blast...very loyal dogs...mine is loyal too, he's just crazy

Boykins are awesome dogs. We had one (now my in-laws have him), and he is one of the smartest, most loyal dogs I've ever seen. Just keep 'em shaved, or they can smell something fierce. :)

yak'em-n-stack'em 05-24-2010 08:57 PM

pox can munch down on some carpet

Bulldogs

Have one named Murphy. What everyone says is true. Great dog, awesome personality. Huge vet bills. Wouldn't trade him for the world.
