She says I can't go fishing till I worked on the kitchen...........I think I've done alot and a very good job to boot!!! Never done any carpentry or floor work before, I think I'm doing a damn fine job for no experience.................BIG BIG thanks to Cabwiz(if you need cabinets, he's the MAN!!!) for the upper cabinets!!!!! Big thanks to Pox for the bricklaying advise(speaking of, you DO NOT want brick floors.......75 hours strait labor to put them down and grout!!!) And Blackmamba, I'll be there this week to order the countertop and backsplash!!! Heres a few before and what I got now Pics.................I think I've done enough to go fishing this weekend, what ya'll think?? I'll show this thread to her tomorrow, so help me out eh??

Not smooth at all........Little one stubbs his toes alot......They arent all cut the same thickness........I guess you could call it rough cut?? I wanted the old look, and that's what I got

swamp snorkler 06-28-2010 08:44 PM

forgot to mention that you did a nice job

All of our counter appliances are red.........it was my idea, and got blown outta the water.......red plates, cups, micowave, coffe maker, you name it, it's red.........

Dink 06-28-2010 08:50 PM

Notice the missing wall??? if you have any doubts about removing a wall, get over it!!! Easiest thing to do ever!! And boy does it add a whole new demension to a room and home........Made it feel so open, and the kitchen doesn't stay hot all the time now........

LaAngler 06-28-2010 08:58 PM

wow looks like a different place! you can go fishing if you want

too late now but you could've used a 1/2"x 1/2" trowel to lay it and built your mud up more, and that would have given you more play to make it smooth and level so you don't have the stubbed toes

Guess you'd have to see it to understand what I meant.........No brick is cut the same thickness............infact, one piece can be 1/2inch or more thick on one side, and 1/4 on the other.......some are 1/2in all the way across, some are 1/4, and of course everything in between...........That's what I meant by "rough cut" I did use 1/2 by 1/2 trowel.........Laying them was a tough job, but the grouting was REALLY BAD!!!!

FF_T_Warren 06-28-2010 09:15 PM

oh well yea, if theres that much difference itd cost you a small fortune and alot of headache to build things up to fix that

simplepeddler 06-28-2010 09:18 PM

Tell her you can't rush perfection. Sometimes you got to step back and think about the next step for a while. And I always think better on a boat. Must be something about the water and beer.
