Took these while waiting on my ride last Thursday at the Pt. Ramp was not busy but I doubt it would have made a difference to these folks. Even got to see a Guide ty up the ramp with his boat and Sports truck.:shaking:Attachment 14650

He could charge admission for that show and it is even better at Cal Pt,Prein Lake park.
Watched a Camel Jocky launch a jet ski at Prein a couple Sundays ago.
Backs down, drives off and the thing is sideways on the trailer headed up the ramp and falls off just as it clears the water.:*****:Of course he had the whole Bedowin Tribe on the dock in their sheets watching. Just had to smile:*****:

We used to go to Fred's on the River in port vincent to watch the show every weekend! Comical!!!

Watched a woman back the trailer in and the drunk husband completely missed the trailer with the boat! Started screaming at her for not backing it where he told her to! The good ol days!

Us too!!!!!! Drank a many cold ones out on that deck watching the show!

LaAngler 08-03-2010 05:20 PM

low water, a good current, bad tempers, and drinking make a good show.

BayBolt23 08-03-2010 05:27 PM

It can be a zoo at Heberts! Too small too shallow & too many monkeys! One guy was trying to put his boat on my buddies trailer he thought it was his.

meaux fishing 08-03-2010 05:29 PM

me and Med Heavy saw some asterisks who let their kids trailer a brand new probably 21' bass boat at Breton Sound Marina...first the kid puts it up over the wheel well goin pretty fast, then jams it in reverse full throttle (boat has a 300 on it)to get off almost runs into the wall the whole time the other little asterisk kid is yelling then he acts like he is gonna put his arms out to stop the boat... good thing the first little asterisk stopped it before it hit the wall cause his little brother would have been hurt bad...

whunter29 08-03-2010 06:11 PM

Just go sit in Turtles bar at Basin Landing on Henderson and you can laugh your butt off.

jpeff31787 08-04-2010 10:44 AM

i've seen someone knock their trolling motor off with the front bumper, because they backed up too far and the most of the deck went under/to the side but not the trolling motor. Bumper hit the alligator mount and tore it right off lmao!! Then as i am packing to go about 10 minutes later i still hear them " BACK IT UP SOME MORE!!"

LMAO! Love the characters at cypremort point

cabwiz2 08-04-2010 10:52 AM

I just love the guys so much in a hurry to pick up their boat that they pull it out the water and drive off with the motor still running.

These guys could not figure out which bucket they were going to put their bait in and after 10 minutes decided they did not need a bucket and put it back in the truck. It is safe to say that none of these folks could make it on a Nascar Pit Crew.....very long.:*****:Attachment 14676

Ray 08-04-2010 06:29 PM

Hardly anyone at Cal. Point gets their boats ready before they get to the ramp.

saw this at the point a couple of weeks ago. Had a flat bed full of boom just sitting there and an old guy waiting on his patna. Only one boat slip available.

longcast 08-04-2010 09:17 PM

hadabite 08-05-2010 01:40 AM

longcast 08-05-2010 10:14 AM

ha i was gonna say the same thing. We have the 1910 and love it also. I'm actually keeping my eyes open for a used 22-24' nautic star so if you know anyone with a decent price on one, I may be interested

fun w son 08-09-2010 03:31 PM

growing up, i remember sitting at the bridgeside on Gi on a Sunday afternoon watching these drunks trying to get there boats back on the trailor. My dad would get us both an ice cream and we would sit on the picnick table for hours just watching the "freak Show"

drewmar74 08-09-2010 04:00 PM

Watched some knucklehead at CP on Sat PM trailer his boat on the center slot. He then proceeded to pull up just far enough to get the whole rig of the ramp. That's where he then started loading kids into the truck, stowing life jackets, putting on transom straps.... all while he had the whole area pretty well blocked off.

I thought that the 3-4 acres of good road base parking area was where you were supposed to do all of that.... guess I was wrong.

Building and modding surface drive motors we used to always test them at the Bonnet Carre Spillway. It was always a show out there. Its like an imbred family reunion out there on the weekends.

BArmand 08-09-2010 09:35 PM

Gotta laugh

That guy did not have a clue whose trailer he was pulling up to. I wish I would have let him pull onto the trailer just to see the look on Bull Breams face. What you think his padnas would have thought when they backed down and their buddy was out the water already?

There is a launch at Lake Houston that was wide enough for a guy to get his truck and trailer parallel to the water. He needed some pvc poles in the worst way.

You should see the look on some of the know it alls when I pull my surface drive out while it is still running. I usually do it when there are a bunch in the way. The look on their face when I past by them on the way to the camp. One told me that I was going to burn the water pump, so I asked him how many times he burnt the water pump on his lawn mower

Wow.

Just.

Wow.

So he really didn't think that leaving his trailer in the middle of the ramp approach was going to be a problem for anyone?

He blocked 2 of the 3 boat ramps at Calcasieu Point.
But it is o.k., they were driving a Lexus. It is o.k. to do if you drive a high dollar SUV. Not if you drive a normal everyday vehicle.

Oh, okay. I didn't realize they were in a Lexus. I feel so foolish for being aggravated about it.....

*sigh*

No one did anything to the vehicle? Like maybe a pile of fish guts laid up on top of the muffler?

Ray 08-10-2010 02:14 PM

I picked up my boat and left. There was a line of boats waiting for me to leave so they could launch. If I had someone with me, we would have moved the trailer so it was sideways with the SUV.

Better than that would have been to take it off the hitch and hide it.:*****:

Jordan 08-10-2010 03:09 PM

a floor jack and a few blocks of wood do wonders....... jack it up and jack-knife it.... put blocks under the tires of the vehicle.... lexus or not... thats retarded

I lock my trailer on the truck. Not sure if he did.
Trailer looked spanking new. You know how them new boater are.
Clueless.

kbleger 08-10-2010 10:04 PM

I have a question...I fish a lot by myself. What is the rule of thumb, do I launch then move my boat and go tie it up and leave the truck there while I do that, blocking a lane while I do it.) Or do I tie it close and block the lane, with my boat there, while moving my truck? Thanks.

Ray 08-11-2010 06:22 AM

When I fish alone, I get my boat ready away from the lane. Tie up the boat to the
trailer with the bow line, unhook everything else and back to the launch. Drop the
tailgate, back down, get in the boat and run her to the dock. Come back and move
the truck to the parking lot.
There is no way to not block the launch if you fish alone. Cal. Point don't have
a place to tie up close by, Heberts and the Prien launches do.

So is this the official Saltycajun law for launching a boat solo? :D

cmac23 08-13-2010 03:03 PM

The launch at Maxie Pierce in Intracoastal is another comical boat launch too!! I would pay admission to watch from the porch at cacahoe's!! Let me know when he gets it built.
