Shark!!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
Caught this while fishing in the lake last Friday. It was a hell of a ride with light tackle.
|
how big was it? Looks pretty large
|
I didnt actually measure it but I know it was at least 3 ft.
|
By the looks of things, that's not light tackle! If that is your idea of light tackle, I'd hate to see what you call heavy equipment!:*****:

I was fishing live bait. The shark straightnd the hook out.
|
Damn what kind of shark is that? Doesn't look like a black tip.

Too bad you didn't catch it last week, you coulda been on shark week!!
|
heard they brought one in for the weigh in at the Garfish Rodeo on Blind River.......
must be that Crisco pushing them inshore |
They had some guys wading right behind them too! LOL!!
longside he caught it last week...I got the text message with the shark pic...Title was "Shark Week" lol! |
haha, man the guy that does River Monsters caught 2 big azz bull sharks like 60 or 70 miles up a river in South Africa, I believe they weighed between 400 and 500 pounds if I remember right. The year before, some people caught one that went 1,000 lbs!!
|
we had a 6-8ft shark come up and nail a gafftop at the boat near those pilings on the beach towards Fourchon on Monday... I must have lost 20 hooks in two days to sharks...
|

LOL!! Yea the funny thing was the waders showed up right after we released it. There was about 10 people in the water. |
That's cool! I've never caught a shark before. Sure it's worthless but would be a fun fight!
|
I know that black tips are good to eat but i have never ate one. I dont know exactly what kind it was BULL or BLACK TIP but i know it didnt want to get in the boat. I was going to try and take a pic holding it.
BAD IDEA!! |
I've heard the black tips were good to eat but haven't tried it either. I would like to cuz the times I've been to the pass out of V Bay that's all I catch.

Yep.. you can catch all you want right now out of v. bay. Not bulls tho, i've never caught a bullshark before. That one you caught is pretty sweet, just grab that dude in the gills lmao |

haha they got you man? Where did you grab him at? I want to make sure not to grab them there. I've found that around the head and stick your fingers into their gills; they don't try squirming as much. Well at least the smaller ones. Never fooled with anything over 3ft |
well this one was about 2-2.5 feet. and let me tell you he was agile. I held him out at arms length by the tail and that sucker swung over and bit me on the leg. Teeth are like razor blades they so sharp. You dont even feel it. just felt a thud on my leg and looked down and was like I think he bit me. then sure enough the blood started flowing. 2 perfect rows of teeth around my shin. got a pretty cool scar story now though.

They've caught numerous bull sharks snagging in Simesport(spelling?) at the hydroelectric plants. I've heard that they have caught some way up north in the mississippi. Somewhere in Illinios i think. Never know they may have some in Henderson   |
Quote:
that is a pretty cool scar! I'm almost jealous.... NOT!! haha I bet you don't grab another by the tail :shaking: |

They are easy to grab after you put a bullet through there head.
|
It's a bullshark
|
thats some kinda light tackle to be picking that thing up completely out of the water.
|
i had one eat a trout off my topwater yesterday (small blacktip) and left me with just the head

damn that would suck... I've had dolphins do that to us in grande isle. Last time i went to rockefella the sharks were eating the lady fish as we'd reel them in. We didn't really complain though; good entertainment when nothing else is cooperating |
They are good to eat but be careful There is a min size on keeping sharks
|
That is a bull shark.See them quite a bit when wadeing. No need to worry unless one bumps you cuz when it does that its sizing up his prey.Blacktips are good eating.Best thing to do if you catch one and want to keep it is cut the tail off.
|
Lake verret could have em easily. Last year a guy did a thing about catching em on trot lines in the atchafalaya basin. Said he had caught 2 or3 5 footers already that year.
|
2 years ago my 11 year old son caught a 5' Tiger shark on 30' mono at the first rig out of Caminada. He faught it by himself for 35 minutes. We took a few pics and let it go.
