We mostly stayed on the northern bank and in the marshes. Started off in the lake then went in the bay. Didn't see too many people pulling fish in either. Talked to a guy that caught 10 reds but only 1 was a keeper.

eman 08-14-2010 02:34 PM

Not fishing, Cooking up a big batch of fijitas today and firing up the smoker in the am.

O and the water was ok but not great. On another note though, the Bud Light's were biting on anything you would throw at them, whether it be left hand or right hand. They were very easy to catch today, in fact I think I'm gonna go ahead and catch another one lol.

meathauler 08-14-2010 03:34 PM

It was very slow for me on the lake yesterday. I had only 8 keepers and if it wasnt for this one set of birds on the way back we would of skunked. We fished all of the south end but didnt stay long at ant place. We even went to the first rigs and had to leave due to winds. I was plannig on going to JB beach but that changed mind due to winds.
Just woke up from a nap and fixn to slice 5 backstraps up to make jerkey with tomorow.

huntin fool 08-14-2010 03:40 PM

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-14-2010 03:45 PM

Yeah I layed low today. Going to grand isle in the am

speck-chaser 08-14-2010 03:55 PM

didnt go either, had big plans for yesterday and today to fish the tourn. at v/b.,but my trolling motor crapped out on me yesterday before I left,so tried to get that fixed before the tourn. today, but couldnt. Finally decided to just drift and anchor to at least give it a shot for the tourn. today. Got everything ready last night, gased up,hooked up ready to go. Fixin to go to bed last night, then my a/c goes out. Had to pull out my hurricane window unit from the shed, and get that hooked up and see about getting somebody out today. Sooooo, I guess it just wasnt meant to be for me to fish today.

Ray 08-14-2010 04:05 PM

What part of the island are you guys going to be fishing? If my buddy isn't too hung over tomorrow morning, I'll be out towards Fourchon Beach.

Yep...I had to do the same a few years ago also. I have 2 hurricane window units now and they are worth their weight in gold when your a/c goes out.

yeah, it came in handy last night, one of the worst things about losing electricity during the hurricane is sleeping in the hot. I still didnt sleep that well though, I woke up at 5 am and thereafter every 30 minutes, and I would think of where I woulda been at that time. I had planned out some pretty good stratedgy according to the tides, but I will never know now. Oh well, Ill get em next time hopefully.lol

Montauk17 08-14-2010 09:26 PM

Just got back from grand isle with dink. We must have caught around 100 baby trout. I caught 4 nice trout and lost a few and a red on topwater. All in all a good day. BTW....Tim does not know how to use a topwater. LOL j/k bro
