X2!

Montauk17 08-23-2010 09:36 PM

One extreme to the next. Last year where I hunted in the marsh the water was SUPER high. Making a blast and cast in houma, cant wait.

ScubaLatt 08-23-2010 09:51 PM

Going to check out the blind this weekend. bringing lots of beer and wasp spray!!

A few guys on my lease told me that they had to pick up the motor every 50 yards to get the widgeon grass off the prop!:churn:

cajunforeman 08-23-2010 10:08 PM

Our marsh is looking pretty low too. Thank god we have rice fields to hunt for teal. Been swimming the dog 2 to 3 times a week to get him ready. I'm so pumped!!! Come on sept 11th!!!

H2OFwlKlr 08-23-2010 10:16 PM

Hope you marsh guys get your rain, but not too much. ;)

In the rice fields we have something called a water well. :smokin:

Seriously, we do better on dry years in the rice fields for teal, but for big ducks the last few years the marsh is were it's at! We have been very slow!

SULPHITE 08-24-2010 08:57 AM

My buddies marsh in cameron is pretty low right now too...

MossLake 08-24-2010 09:42 AM

Going to cover the blind in Johnsons Bayou this weekend. Not sure where the water level will be, but expect it to be low. Taking 4-wheeler and hoping to get enough rain next couple of weeks to be able to run boat and hunt teal season.

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-24-2010 09:44 AM

got off my lease in little chenier this year, so im gonna be hunting public land.

Teal Sightings......

When I left our lease in Kaplan on Tuesday evening, I actually saw 3-4 flocks of Blue Wings..........SEPT 11 is almost here....

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-25-2010 11:04 PM

I saw a flock of blue wings just outside kinder on my drive in today. A group of 10

LSUh20fowler 08-26-2010 06:57 AM

Saw a small flock yesterday afternoon while driving north of Elton along Hwy 26. First ones I seen so far. Spent the week down in the marsh by Creole and haven't seen any yet. Man I'm ready to shoot AT them little rockets.

specktator 08-26-2010 07:32 AM

Heard these last few rains around PI dropped alot of water. Going ride this afternoon and check it out.

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-26-2010 10:21 PM

The ducks were everywhere flying parallel to the beach all day today

specktator 08-27-2010 07:53 AM

Went ride out to my lease in pecan island yesterday afternoon. Got the perfect amount of water. Saw about 200 teal. They were everywhere along with tree ducks. Mashed out a big hole with my 4wheeler. Right after I was done, a flock of about 30 teal buzzed right over me and circled the whole I mashed and almost lit in it 4 or 5 times. Time to cut em all jack!

specktator 08-27-2010 07:54 AM

This little front must have pushed them down cause I went out there last week and didn't see any.

Shawn Braquet 08-27-2010 09:35 AM

Got the blind grassed and ready for teal season yesterday. Dodged the rain showers but not the HEAT. Phone pics not so great.
First pic is the blind on the point.
Second pic is looking west down the pond-Structure in background is at Sabine Pass
Third pic is marsh grass FULL of seed.

Notice there is no pic of the Ducks. Saw maybe three teal. Maybe they'll move in area before season starts.

Shawn Braquet 08-30-2010 09:29 AM

heard a lot of people seeing them on the beach, how early did you get out there?

MossLake 08-30-2010 10:37 AM

Was there from about 7:15 - noon. Sure thought we would have seen alot more teal.

specktator 08-30-2010 11:48 AM

I saw a few hundred last week in PI. And my buddies said they saw a bunch this past weekend in the surf.

Micah 08-30-2010 01:50 PM

Raymond 09-03-2010 09:09 AM

Hearing good reports south of 82 at G/C with thousands of B/W.
None on our place right now but that can all change on opening
morning.
Spek, you hunt west of the Bull Pasture? Shot many birds on that
place 05 and 06 seasons.

cajunforeman 09-03-2010 12:32 PM

Thats good news for me!! We will be in G/C tomorrow to get our lease ready. I hope to see plenty and give a good report.

I dont know where Bull Pasture is. I hunt about 1.5 miles west of Rollover Landing on the northside of Hwy 82 south of White Lake. Going out there again this afternoon to do a little more work then gonna stay at the camp in PI and possibly fish the surf in the morning. I saw a buttload of bluewings when i went last week right when that front was moving through. Hopefully this other front this weekend pushes some more.

Jordan 09-03-2010 01:38 PM

i seen 2 wood ducks yesterday evening flying over. I aint ever seen them this early in the year.
