Fourchon Trip

Well plans to Freeport were changed and now it looks like we will be trailering the boat to Fourchon. Anyone have any reports or advice for this area?

I have never fished out of Fourchon all I have to offer is a shrug of the shoulder...

Thanks,
Brad

I wouldn't call it needy, I would just define it as using all of my available resources... lol

Maybe one day I can return the favor to someone.

Go on the Hull truth in the gulf coast section and do a search......make sure the dates of reports are relative to now........good luck!!

Fish the beach toward Grand Isle. Look for bait or birds. Been hammering the trout for weeks now

Dink 08-31-2010 09:17 PM

BW.....I think He's talkin offshore

BA1125 08-31-2010 09:30 PM

Yea definitely looking for offshore information...

We are planning on making atleast an 80 mile run possibly a little further.

Thanks
-Brad

Dink 08-31-2010 09:35 PM

Medusa is 80 miles out.......go at night and jig.....once sun comes up, troll......there's a few other floaters a little further.......stop in 200ft of water at some rigs to make bait

Ray 08-31-2010 10:03 PM

Tuna have been hitting the flying fish at night when the water is calm.
The more boat landing lights a platform has, the more bait it will have.

Dink 08-31-2010 10:16 PM

I have one of them arti flying fish......ill get to use it one day!!!

And cut bait on a drift line, hide the hook well, with some chummin'

Dink 08-31-2010 10:54 PM

Do not chum with chunks......grind some bait......you wanna lure them, not feed them

skeeter77346 09-01-2010 07:01 AM

I would also hit the first set of rigs out to 65ft of water and fish for Mangroves on light tackle. Pull up to a rig, throw some pogie chum chunks and pitch an unweighted small circle hook hidden in a chunk and let it free drift with the chum - you will feel 'THUMP' like a bass hitting a plastic worm, but these are no bass but 8 to 10 LB Mangroves that fight like crazy. We fish Calcutta 400s with 65 Braid, tipped with 30 to 40 Flouro or so - the bigs ones can be very line shy and sometimes we use 25 Flouro, but break off several. Live Shrimp, Croaker = Mangrove candy. Good Luck

Thanks alot guys, appreciate the help...

Does anyone happen to know the coordinates to the Medusa rig? That definitely sounds like where we need to be Saturday night. We plan on launching around Saturday afternoon & fishing all night.

Thanks,
-Brad

This is latest map I found.

meaux fishing 09-01-2010 08:03 AM

yeah if you care about being legal you will have to hit the green canyon rigs if you want to go deep

BA1125 09-01-2010 09:56 AM

I got word that fishing waters were closed out to 85 miles.

QUACKHEAD 09-01-2010 10:51 AM

Here is an interesting link. If you know the approximation or find your coords, you can go here to look at it's location on a map.
