Wade Fishing in Big Lake
 

Are there any spots to access wade fishing on Big Lake without a boat?

I have family in the LC area, but I have never fished in Big Lake. I hear its the best, so I would like to try it.

main place is down by the cameron ferry on hwy 82

How far you want to walk?... You can walk from crab lady landing to pelican and wade and also there are a few walk in spots in detonville ....

I don't mind walking a couple of 100 yards as long as it is worth it (and relatively safe).

Where is crab lady landing and Detonville?

There is no public access to the lake via foot traffic on the eastside of the lake. Cameron ferry access on the lower westside is public access but that area is very limited to wading.
Also, if you do plan to wade make sure you stop at Academy and purchase the La wade fishing stamp and attach to your license.

I don't think you should have to have a liscence but I do think an anchor light on top of waders head would help. Especially these guys wading in the dark.

Best thing I've found for wading is a personal float tube.... It's an auto inflate device worn around your waist, if or when u hit a hole or quicksand it deploys with the increase of pressure from you now bn submerged..... Floats u to the top of water.... Ask the guys at academy for em. They will hook ya up.

The best spot is no secret! Right under the 210 Bridge next to the first piling.

By act of the La Legislature House bill B.S. 2011-BR59 the new wade fishing stamp shall be $5.99 and has to be affixed to the saltwater stamp and signed across the face by said license holder. Just got back from the Tackle Box and they have plenty of the stamps in house, might want to pick up some Jerks while you are there.

I just picked up my wade license from chris at the tackle box. Gonna be a wading tomorrow.

Kyle922 got banned because it was "W"s burn handle when he was banned and I was tired of my multiple login detector going off 10x per day. ;)

I spoke with a ldwf agent today, he said a portion of the cost will go toward enhancing reefs and keeping the oyster boats off certain reefs. Also they are mapping the lake and by next dec should have markers for all the reefs. Allowing the waders more opportunity and safer locations to catch fish..... I think this is a great idea.

Please tread carefully,it is oyster breeding season. Reefs are going to get quite Sticky in a few weeks!

Wear neoprene. It washes off great

Plus you have to have a tag for all trout and reds over 20inch...while wading...The tag fees are 1.50 per tag
