Looks can lie.....
Here was boils my water....
I walk into a jewelry store, un named.* Today I'm n jeans and a Columbia with huntin boots on...... Took 10 min for someone to ask me What I needed. Then when I tell em I need stuff fixed that they messed up on I am pushed to the back and told to wait until that person is free to help me..... Last week I walk n wearing my full suit, as soon as I walk n I am greeted and taken to a salesperson who asks if i need coffee, coke, water the works... Simply cause I look like I got $$$$$. Unreal how some people judge and treat individuals based on how they are dressed. Needless to say. I won't b purchasing my TAG watch from there!! |
Aint it amazing how snooty some folks can be.
|
yeh u right!
|
Perception is reality
|
I know an owner of a jewelery store in Lake Charles.
No matter how I dress, I get good service. I go in and tell them what I want to spend on my wife. They know what she likes. They bring out everything she might like for the price I am looking to spend. I say enny, meeny, mineey, moe. Wrap dat one up. Christmas shopping done!!! |
so then just brag a little ray. that helps chris feel better!
|
Hppened to me at pottery barn was in jeans boots n camo coat no service, bought some stuff still rude so I told the lady " bi$$$ I don't know what ur prob is but u act like my $ isn't green here .... What are u like 50 years old workin at pottery barn, bi$$$ I have higher limits on my discover card than u make in a year !!"

I know man that went to buy a new truck. He was dressed in old jeans and a tee shirt. Nobody waited on him. One salesman talked to him briefly. The man went across the street and payed cash for his new truck. He drove it back to the first dealership and told the salesman he just missed a sale.
|
Same thing happened to my dad when he took me to buy my first new truck. I had to have a Toyota 4 wd so we went to get a deal. Dad had on his best work coveralls/pocket protector with 4 pens, and some worn out broganns.
We spent an hour going back and forth with the salesman when he finally asked my dad how much he could afford to pay for the truck!!!:pissed: My dad told him he could pay way more for it than the sticker price but did not plan to and we left without our sausage which he told the salesman to stick it in his azz. Cruised north on airline and stopped at the last dealership and I was worried what he would do with the same treatment on the same day but, they were very nice and saw past his bumpkin outfit. Salesman got right on the price and asked how dad wanted to pay, he said cash and I drove back to pickup my truck the next day. I learned a valuable lesson that day to never judge a book by it's cover. Know plenty of folks that have $$$ and most don't act like the people you encountered. The wantabee's of the world are the ones who mainly act like that. |

One guy told mr while we were setting up a meeting " son, I know u probably wear a suit to meet with most of Ur clients, but do me and u a favor and just come in jeans." that guy is like my grandfather now and I'd do anything for him. $$$$$ don't make u rich.... It allows u to b who u want to b... Sometimes that's a good thing; sometimes it's a bad thing. |
hey Chris......
Check out www.timezone.com and save some bones anyway. If it's the store I'm thinking it is......you are right. The wife and I where treated that way about eight years ago there. If I told you how much business they have lost over the last eight years, it would seem as tough as was bragging LOL..... I truly despise bastages like that. My dad is one of those kinda guys that will wear the used clothes out of old cars before he crushes them.....and is darn proud of it. BUT......he pays cash for everything........including the "President" he did not buy from them....... Again, if it's the place I think it is.......LOL |

I can't stand the posers tho, 25K/yr millionaire types in the leased for 72 month benz. :grinpimp: But hell at least they're workin!! |
I use to sell cars, and people who have crappy credit can be hard to get approved for a loan, but I always made more money on people with bad credit buying an overpriced used vehicle then selling to a person that wanted a new vehicle and wanted to pay cash. The problem with selling cars is sorting threw the people who are gonna waste your time and getting to the person who is gonna buy. But chances are if someone is saying they want to buy a vehicle and they leave with out buying, 3 hours later they got a new vehicle and they got it right down the street and you screwed your chance of making money and a future customer.
|
Lol @ Peddler! I could so see your dad being like that! And yeah, I think it's safe to say he's done well for himself through the years.
|
I am sorry this happened to you and it does happen all of the time. You can not judge a book by it's cover, well said Raymond.
Customer service in general is not what it once was. |
Chris lemme know what tag u want I'll call my jewler in Ohio who I buy my watches from at cost
|
To me anyone who walks through the door is a potential customer
I learned along time ago you treat everyone like you want to be treated and everybody will be happy. People don't understand if someone walks through your door especially if its a specialty shop they will buy or have the potential to buy. Even in good times you got to try your best to help that person.
This type of service that burns me up.:pissed: When I finally ran a roofing supply house I would pass up on experienced people due to they gave piss poor service. One was my former manager that finally got fired. He asked me for a job. I told him," if I wanted to listen to an A__ H__ all day I would listen to myself fart." A person that is trainable, open minded with a good personality is golden. |

I think it depends on what you would call " Wealthy" one million to one person is wealthy, a million to another would barely get them out of debt and room for a Twix bar. As for service..................I believe we as the comsumer plays a big role. If more people walked away, instead of being "awe inspired" by a ball headed man giving out sausage, or wearing the same watch that a golfer wears...........we would rise the bar. Take drive through for instance.............the whole premiss of the idea is quick service, yet we will gladly pull to the side and wait. And the places now have assigned parking, giving into the idea that they can't cook my damn fries quick enough. Who the hell runs our of fries at a hamburger and fries joint. We must demand better service. Way to go Chris, you have my blood boiling.......... Of course I grew up in a service related business and run several distributor locations where service is all the seperates us from the competition. Most people think "if we suck less" we will be better. |
Custome service has pretty much become a thing of the past. I am retired from Delta Air Lines after 37 years. I saw them go from the very best in customer service to mediocre injust a few years. Very sad to watch ...
|
I have full tattoed sleeves on both arms. Well 1 1/2 sleeves. Still working on one. I get treated different when i wear short sleeve shirts vs. Long sleeves
|
My oldest son sees it as well......fully sleeved
|
My friends jewelery place will hook you up, but it is in Lake Charles.
I know one of the girls who works in it also. |
many years ago i wanted to take up bow hunting. I walked into a sporting goods store w/ cash in my pocket to buy a complete set up .They had 3 guys behind the counter gabbing w/ each other and after me looking around for 10 min. or so one of them finally ncame over and asked if he could help me. I explained that i had never bow hunted and wanted to buy everything i needed to get in the woods. (salesmans dream right). he proceded to start asking me a few questions and another guy walked in the door ,guy just walks away from me and starts talking to the other guy . pissed me off so i walked to the front of the store and started out the door .One of the other guys behind the counter looks up and says, Didn't find what you were looking for?
I pulled $600 in cash out my pocket showed it to him and told him i found what i was looking for But since the salesman decided his friend was more important than making a sale was , i would go somewhere else to spend my money. This was 36 years ago and even though the store has changed ownership at least 3 times ,To this day i have never set foot in that store. If you want my buisiness, act like you do! |
There is a store on Hwy 27 in Carlyss with great breakfass smiches but the hired help always has to put their cell phones down to take your $$$.
Everyone is in sales, some do it better than others. |
