W. I found your Texans
These guys are from Texas and claim these fish were caught in Big Lake. Not sure when or were. I can believe they were caught wading Big Lake because I have had trips with the same results. However I think keeping all those fish to take hero shots is just sad and uncalled for.

That's an old picture, saw it a couple years ago, I've heard Big Lake & Lake Catherene, Big Lake sounds more reasonable though.
|
I had never seen it. My friend claimed it was in the last few months. Calling to correct him now.
|
It is several years old. Probably 2004ish

These are the pictures that caused all the public outcry and sympathy for the lake and the root cause of the 15 fish limit, 25" rule or whatever it is now. I call it a hell of a day on the water and one that is worth several photos to keep around showing what memories are made of.
I have on question: If someone post a picture this year of 4 guys, with 4 limits of big fish that are all legal, how many people will want to cry and lower the creel limits again because people are "raping" the lake? |
This is why we had “ the Big Lake Police committee” drop the limit of trout and you can only keep two over 28inchs!!! This pic here is what Started the out rage.... This is south pocket of long point

Pics are From 2003. It was One of my better days, even though it was foggy and a little cool. :grinpimp:

This was the outrage on Louisiana Sportsman website. Good catch, perfectly legal, a bunch of whiners that can't catch fish like that complained and get a new limit set |
I saw this picture in 2003-2004....and this very picture got alot of attention...but not positive attention though,as some would think!! This was nothing more than an EGO massage and totally uncalled for!!! What these guys did wasn't illegal but immoral!!! Quite Disgusting I must say!!!

I agree with you 100% ,,,,,, No problem with anyone keeping trout...but these guys knew what they were after and killed all in there way! It is different if a guy and his kids go out and catch a once in a lifetime stringer like that!!! These guys just made a Azz out them self!! Texas guys raping our waters! If we went to Baffin Bay and did this!!!! Just Image |
Envy...envy...envy. ;)
|
I dont see a problem with it.
1) It was legal 2)You cant fish out Big Lake with a rod n reel.... right:confused: |

Nope.....My dad taught me better than that! And Josh L and I could of done the same thing two years ago! We were on huge slicks with big trout every cast! We only keep what did not swim off....They are on this stringer! We only had 3 hours to fish then josh had to go cut rice! If I wanted to Brag or Show Pics....We could of stung up 30 trout all over 4 to 7 lbs.....EASY |
What is to gain by depleting breeding stock to freeze fish that are too big to taste as good as a 15-20 inch fish.
Most of you who are saying you don't care aren't the ones who are targeting trophy trout. You are filling a freezer. That's fine if that's what you want to do. But what you don't understand is BIG FISH BREED BIG FISH Go ahead and kill the big ones and tell me how that affects trophies in the next few years |
I release all fish over 5lbs, unless bleeding from the gills badly!! A lil conservation goes a long way folks!! These fish are our brood fish. These sows(males croak, females don't) will lay thousands of eggs each year with her genes...its almost the same concept as farming trophy white tail just backwards!! So if you don't want to mount the fish, take a pic and let her go!!!
|
the point is, don't take pics and post if you wanna rape & pillage. :rotfl:
|
I agree yack them fish that size don't taste as good as a smaller fish so why keep them big fish just for bragging rights.

I just want one for braggin rights .Right up on the wall next to dat 10 lb bass.
|
YOU DO NOT NEED THE FISH TO GET IT MOUNTED
MOST PLACES DONT EVEN DEAL WITH ACTUAL FISH ANYMORE. take pics of the fish, get the measurements and release |

you cant "ConPAIR" a skin mount to replica....Skin mount is so much better |

Replica mounts for trout look horrible. A blue marlin looks decent, but trout look really fake = because they are.

This i agree with you on! Big Trout are not going to bred bigger trout! your 14inch and smaller are the hammers! they produce the most eggs a year! Not killing Big Trout is more of a respect thing! Kind of like the guys who let the 8point buck walk to get the 12point I do not like to eat a trout over 4 or 5 lbs....I prefer the 12-16inch ones I try to tag big trout so i can see what there pattern is when they get caught again! Its cool and fun hobby for me |
Anybody else like to tag hogs???
|
If I could catch them I would. Lol
