Keep us in your thoughts.

We just found our 2 week old baby boy has virus called RSV. We took him to our family doctor a few days ago because he was getting congested and they didn't test him for anything or give him a prescription for it. We kept calling the Dr office to let them know that it wasn't getting any better, and their reply was, "well he's gonna get sick, that's what babies do.". So I told my wife to take him to another pediatrician to see what they thought and the first thing they did was checked his O2 level and it was severely low. They told us to go straight to the hospital so he could get some treatment. They also said that this was a very dangerous condition for babies and that it is ridiculous that he went untreated for 3 days. So hopefully we caught it in time before any long lasting damage could occur. If it gets any worse they said they will fly him to Ocsner's in new Orleans.

Needless to say, when I get back in town, my first stop will be that POS Doctor. I have never hit a woman, but there is always a first time for everything.

I'm just asking all my S.C. Brothers to keep us in you thoughts and prayers.

southern151 01-26-2011 04:58 PM

Prayers to you and your baby. I couldn't imagine what you are feeling right now.

As far as punching a female doctor...When it comes to my kids, my defending them doesn't recognize race, creed, religion or sex! I don't blame you and could probably put up a few bucks for your bail!

tumbleweed 01-26-2011 05:03 PM

My thoughts are with you and your family.

My son had the same infection when he was 4 months old. We spent 4 days in the hospital. It is a very dangerous infection for children and it is becoming more common. Good luck.

Prayers up man. Our little girl went through it at 8 months. Same thing as you with the doctors. They kept saying it was a cold and put her on prescriptions. It wouldnt get better and finally a different doctor saw her and admitted her right away. She had rsv, severe dehydration, and collapsed veins from dehydration. She was in the hospital 3 days but recovered fine. Your little boy should be fine, those young ones sure are tough!!!

Went through the same exact thing with my grandson. Makes you so made that they don't care anymore. The lung doctor told my daughter he would not see my grandson anymore because she called and complained. He is the only Ped lung doctor in baton rouge. now he has to go to new orleans to see one. Will pray for him and your family.

My 1 Year old got sick this week with sinus and coughing. Took him to the doc and found it was a bad sinus infection. We were fearing he had a touch of RSV as bad as he was feeling. he hadn't been sick since he was born. it sucks that the doctor didn't take every precaution to take care of such a young baby.Shame on them!!!

Hope your little one gets well soon and will say a prayer for yall.

Loneshark 01-26-2011 08:38 PM

Prayers going up. I can only imagine the feeling you are experiencing. I got pissed in the past when the doctor gave my baby a vaccine shot. It is just something about protecting those that can't protect themselves.

simplepeddler 01-26-2011 08:54 PM

consider it done.

Spend your emotions on the little one......The BIG ONE will take care of the doctor.

youmyboyblue 01-26-2011 09:26 PM

Praying for you. My daughter had the same thing. You guys will be fine. Make sure to
visit that Dr. No telling how many other babies he put in harms way.

This is a picture from the hospital today. They say he is getting better but but his O2 levels will not stay up, so they had to put him on an oxygen supply. This may be the worst feeling in the world having to watch your 3 week old on so many machines and stuff. This possibly could have been prevented if the first doctor gave a dam.:pissed::pissed::pissed: If it werent for me having to take care of my oldest son throughout the day, I would probably go crazy. I have organized my tackle box twice and restrung all my reels just to keep busy.

eman 01-29-2011 12:03 AM

God , please lay your hand on that lil man.

I tell you what............them little kids are tough as nails when they need to be. Yesterday I thought he would still be in the hospital for a few more days at the least. But this morning he was able to keep his O2 up and was breathing way better, so they decided to let him go this afternoon. Mainly because they dont want him in the hospital if he doesnt have to be, with all the germs that are there. We are having to do our own breathing treatments at home, but they say he got way better almost overnight. He is now sleeping in his crib, just trying to shake off the rest of the crud. Thanks to everyone who took the time out of their day to say a few for my little one.

Reel Bender 01-29-2011 06:58 PM

Good news!! Hope things continue to improve for the lil guy.

Man that is a fine precious baby. All my prayers are for him. Like I said in an earlier post, we went through the same thing with my grandson. When he was born and again later. He made two last November. Keep up your spirits and that of your family. With prayers and love it will get better.

I made my last reply before reading all of the responses. I saw his picture and was overcome. Thank God he is better and at home.
