Help Needed for House Fire victims
A friend of mine in Lake Charles had his house burn completely down yesteday. The family lost absolutely everything they had. The only thing salvaged were the clothes they were wearing. They have 2 boys, one in high school and one in elementary school. Mike is a nurse at St. Pat's in the surgery center and I have known him for about 20 years. He and his family are A+ people. If anyone would like to make a donation to help out this family please PM me and I will get back with you. OR you can send a check made out to Michael Fontenot to St. Louis Catholic High School, c/o Mr. Ted Nixon, Principal. Their address is: 1620 Bank St., Lake Charles, LA, 70601
Thanks in advance for your support and also your prayers for this family. Latt |
You got an age or size on the boys? I've got boys clothes for days.....
|
Man I just gave a bunch of clothes to Goodwill 2 weeks ago that I would have sent over to him. Get the sizes of everyone in the family for shirts and pants. When we move in a couple weeks I'll keep things we don't use or need aside and see about getting it to you or them. I'm not sure how much I'll have but it should be a few items.

Y'all wanna do a paypal thing again? I'm game and I'll even head it up on behalf of SC, assuming Shadman is ok with it.
If y'all wanna do a paypal deal, I'll send the money, say...Feb 7 with the collection ending Feb 5. I have a LOT going on right now but, I was shown in the past few days what it truly means to PAY IT FORWARD, thanks to a couple of great guys from here! I can't help but push for this family. I tell you what, if I get any responses to this as far as Paypal, I'll match it up to $100. I know it's not much but, right now, it's what I can do. I'll mail the check(have my wife do it anyway!) Monday Feb 7 in regards to SaltyCajun.com. If you wanna go at it, I won't be around my computer much for the next couple of days due to relocating my shop so, send me a txt on my cell stating your name on SC and the amount and I'll try to keep everyone posted here as to your contribution. Be sure that on the memo on Paypal that you put your SC screen name, please. My paypal account is c_fisher79@yahoo.com and my cell # is 580-716-4995. Let's set this ball in motion and show this family what SaltyCajun is really about! A special thanks to a couple of guys from our great site for making it possible for me to make a contribution to this!!!!!! I'll be writing a special post just for y'all next week sometime!;) |

Guys, I've been over my head with transforming a warehouse into a collision center and, trying to schedule an arseload of jobs into a place that isn't even operable yet! I haven't forgotten about this but, I haven't had time to track with it. Let's get it goin! Let's show em what we're made of!
To the two who have pitched in, I'm proud of you, even though I haven't had time to check my paypal!! I hope this post comes the way I meant for it to! My wife has been nagging me for working 14 hrs a day while I was typing this on my phone! |
I would love to make a donation but now's not a good time with a new baby and building a new house. I will keep any excess items we have from moving and donate that to them so they will have things once they get back on their feet.
|
You still accepting donations? I am out of the office today and tomorrow, but would be willing to donate on Thrusday...

I was happy to pitch in, I helped a friend last night who locked there keys in there car and needed to get in without paying $60 to pop a lock, I got there car unlocked in 3 minutes and they gave me $20 which I didn't want to accept but didn't want to fight over it either, so I was just paying it forward.

Its nice to know there are people willing to help out complete strangers in need. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to set this up Corey

I am not sure about that but you are welcome, like some of you, people have helped me in life when I needed it. When you in a position to help people you should do it.
For instance, this is completly off topic but I have towed in several people throughout the years and of course would never take money for it. Earlier this year it was close to to dark and my 7 year old and I ran over an unmarked crab pot. Our trolling motor was just about dead and it was cold (around 40 degrees). The last boat coming through that evening saw I had a kid on board and they towed us in. I really believe good things happen to good people. Of course good people get screwed some times but this instance was a great lesson for my 7 year old. He was also with me on more than one occassion when we cut our trip short to tow someone in so he got to see what helping people feels like. |
That's right Mr. Kinchen! I've always been glad to help someone out when they were in need. That has never done me wrong although, I'm sure that there was more than one person in the woodpile that had ill intentions regarding my generosity but, that's not important.
Just recently, two of our SC members helped with the relocation of my shop in ways that I would never have imagined that people would, or could do! I won't go into the details now but, their help was significant, to say the least! Their response to me when I asked why they were doing what they did was, we've watched you do it for everyone else and now, it's your turn. I'm not an emotional person but, nearly was that day. I was incredibly humbled! In short, watch what you do and how you do. Someone else is watching, too(and it's not just the Man Upstairs!)! Like in my case, I had no clue that what I had been doing all along had been so recognized/monitored. Thanks Eman and SimplePeddler for showing me something I didn't know! |
Good for you, great story. Like me I am sure you also help people with no expectation that you will ever get anythign in return.
We have some great people on this site. |
