Finally finished up my new boat. Now I just gotta make that drive and go get her. The actual color is a lil different than it looks in the pics. its actually a grey all the way through. She will be ready this spring to load up the fish. Good luck to all. Prime time is just around the corner. The last pic is a better look at the real color

Duck Butter 02-02-2011 09:11 AM

That thing looks awesome, i would kill myself if I had that large of a boat, I would load it up with drums of gasoline and go to the Green Canyon!

I do like that blue tint on the window though, is that polarized?:p

LOL, I got the $$, just don't have the shed to keep something that long in... yet.

Ray 02-02-2011 11:03 AM

I might go fishin with Capt. Matt before I decide to buy something that $$$.
I bought my boat cause it fit in my garage, due to the fold down windshield and grab bar.
But after tearing that off the center console and busting the front of my house off, I am thinking about building a boat shed in the back yard as soon as it warms up.

Capt. Matt Caire 02-03-2011 04:50 PM

any time u wanna come ride. U can. I have to go get it first ha. I plan to go next week and pick it up

evis102 02-04-2011 08:33 PM

Lake and Bay are the best composite bay boats on the water. I really doubt they copied anyone. That is one sweet rig.

Champion vs. Lake & Bay

Wylie Nagler, who now owns Yellowfin Yachts, designed the hull for the 24 Bay Champ. Quite a few years ago, he designed boats for a company he owned called Back Country Powerboats, which was later sold to Champion Boats. Back Country Powerboats was well known for its 201 Pro Guide flats boat, which Champion modified and marketed as the 202 Pro Guide. If you take a look at the L&B 20 Back Water flats boat, it looks eerily similar to the 201 and 202 Pro Guide, just as the L&B 24 Back Water looks so similar to the 24 Bay Champ. So is L&B copying Champion and Wylie's hulls and modifying them or did he maybe sell his old molds to L&B after dealing with Champion? I'd be curious to know. I may be way off on this but these are just some things I have noticed while researching online and comparing boats and brands. In no way am I knocking L&B boats. I have a friend with a 24 Back Water and it is a sweet rig. I started looking into the L&B's once Champion went out of business because I love the ride and quality of my Champion so much and the L&B was the closest thing to replace it with! I also heard that Wylie designed the hull of the 21 Bay Champ, which i personally own and is the best riding 21 foot bay boat I have ever been on. Wylie also designed the hull of the Yellowfin 24 Bay, which is the most impressive bay boat I have ever fished out of. So after seeing all the great designs that Wylie has put out, it wouldn't be a surprise to me that someone would want to copy his designs or at the least, buy his molds and modify them. I'm sure someone knows a lot more about this than me and I would love to have all of the gray area filled in. This is just my 2 cents about the question of who is using who's hull design! I'm not saying any of this is 100 percent accurate, its just my theory after researching for my next bay boat (I love my Champion and said I would never buy another brand, but since they disappeared AGAIN and after fishing out of a Yellowfin 24 Bay recently, I will definitely go with the Yellowfin when the time is right for me to upgrade. It is a bit pricey compared to most of the other brands, but then again after seeing the quality and experiencing the ride and performance of the Yellowfin 24, no other brands compare).

Capt. Matt Caire 02-06-2011 07:54 PM

Ive never been in a yellowfin. I have seen several of them on the water and am sure they are a great riding bayboat as are their offshore boats. Im not sure about the Champion boat design thing either. But I do know this... I have been in many of different bay boats in my time and all boats now and days are really nicely made, but what sold me on this boat was that in rough water it nevers checks up, and dry comfortable ride and floats extremely shallow. And if you wanna go fast it can do that too. But very rarely do I go fast except in tournaments. The guy I work with was the one that sold me on this boat when i saw the difference between his L&B and my old skeeter was like night and day. Still I love that old Skeeter I have, and it was a great boat to me, and will be a great boat for someone else here really soon. So If anyone will be looking for a good boat I will have one for sale here soon. and I will make them a hell of a deal on it. Its 24 ft. 2003, rigged out. I will post something when i am ready to get rid of it before this summer. Will be a VERY reasonable price. PS.. Nothing is wrong with it.

jpcajun 02-07-2011 09:04 AM
