Carrot sticks

Just got this from a friend who works at acadamey.
big sale, Carrot Stix rods. $149 retail, $59.99, $199 retail, $69.99 at any Academy store.

gonzalesdave 03-02-2011 12:10 PM

The golds are $69?? That is a good deal if so.

specktator 03-02-2011 12:22 PM

DAMN I might go get one now just to try it out. Thanks for the info.

eman 03-02-2011 01:46 PM

Just remember there is a reason they are selling at this price.
It will be a Clearance item probably w/ no warrenty once they sell out.
Check w/ acadamey for warrenty info???

Hopedale Hustler 03-02-2011 01:50 PM

Are these rods any good I've never fished one??

Dink 03-02-2011 01:54 PM

They're real light and sensitive, but prone to breaking

specktator 03-02-2011 01:58 PM

Yeh I have always wanted one but always heard bad things about them so never bought one. But for half price I might check one out.

gonzalesdave 03-02-2011 02:12 PM

I have an older one. I bought it because I got a smoking deal and planned on selling it. I ended up liking it.....I still use it often.

bluewing 03-02-2011 06:27 PM

Please guys unless you're fishing for Bream, don't buy this crap. Had two of em. Bought from two different stores and both broke. One on a 16" red and one for no apparent reason on a cast. Junk!!!!

Dink 03-02-2011 06:40 PM

Jordan could break one without using his tailgate!! That should tell you sumthin!

you don't say!

SaltERedneck 03-04-2011 03:58 PM

I just called the warranty dpt... 4 straight days with no answer. They inform me that the model I bought is no longer available... hmmm is it because it sucked arse??? then the lady informs me that the COMPANY... which whom builds these rods are out of stock of the equivalent Gold Series 7 foot model. What they had available was 6'6 and 7'6..... uuummm go build some more. then she tells me she doesnt know when the next shipment will be in and there is a 40$ shipping and handling fee. Soo i will be out a rod for how many days??? Called the warranty dept another 3 times and NO answer.... I see micro guides in the future.

PUREBAY2200 03-05-2011 12:38 AM

Total piece of junk!!!

bayouchub 03-05-2011 01:50 AM

Obvisouly u don't fish with em... Cause if ya did they'd b broke and u would b tellin Ur story about a broken rod...

bayouchub 03-05-2011 02:18 AM

I have fished them hard and I mean HARD. They are far superior to any rods that I own Charlies, laguna, Waterloo etc.

Well what kinda Fishin u talkin bout?? Gold fish?? Perch jerk??
Cause dem rods wont last a minute catchin a big lake trout or a Venice red.....
Plus they ugly as can b.... It's like a flag for potlickers when ya put that rod n Ur rocket launcher!!

Waterloo = high dollar to feel special.

Castaway skeleton , that's what u need!

bayouchub 03-05-2011 02:27 AM

I'm talkin bout Texas style wadin for big trout. Gimme my carrot and a corky and I'll show u a gold fish.

bayouchub 03-05-2011 02:32 AM

I don't care what it looks like as long as it fishes good. And what is this pot licking that you speak of?

PUREBAY2200 03-05-2011 02:35 AM

Hahaha, only way that carrot stick gonna catch trout is if u stab it with the broken jagged edge..... But itll b hard to stab one of the -"Texas trophy trout"

I guess u choose rods like u choose women..... Looks don't matter long as u get hookedup???
Potlicker refers to those who fish off of the skills of others . Instead of searching for fish they follow boats and hope that the boat will lead them to fish. They have limited knowledge of fishing and bc of laziness and lack of respect for others will most likely never become a better fisherman.

sears 03-05-2011 03:34 AM

A friend of mine that works at cabelas said the new ones should bold up better. He talked to the rep after they were getting so many returns and he said they revised them since.

Sea-Trac Offshore 03-05-2011 08:34 AM

Good friend of mine works at Bass Bro in Alabama. He said RUN!! Most returned rod since he started working there since they opened. He said plenty accidental 2 pieces.

SaltERedneck 03-05-2011 12:26 PM

They got a lifetime warranty but a 40 dollar shipping and handling fee. You pay 200 for a broken rod. Then you gotta talk to some foreigner about something she knows nothing about..Bought two rods (ABu Garcia) on the site Tacklewarehouse... cost me 10$ overnight shipping...Carrot stick= 250$ outta your pocket, a bad taste in your mouth, and the red arse. HERE'S YOUR SIGN!!!

BLUE 03-06-2011 12:11 AM

well i never had a problem with them ! i just ordered my 5 th one today !

"W" 03-06-2011 12:47 AM

Please never place a Carrot Stick or Castaway in the same sentence as Waterloo,,,, those two rods are like cane poles compared to a Waterloo rod!!!

So keep the Academy rods in the same sentence but please don't try to raise them up in waterloo Category
Thank You

Whatever..... How much is waterPOO paying u to make say stuff like that.
Castaway skeleton ain't an academy rod.... So get Ur facts strait. And if Ur trying to bash rods from academy or even people who buys rods from academy u really need to think twice..... That's a group of people not even u can debate with.
And I pretty sure u were loaded up with all-star rods not to long ago.

And yea deadly d, cumara is an assume rod!! Got 2 of em and love em, broke one and got instore swap out at bass pro.

specknation 03-06-2011 02:43 PM

I have used lots of All Stars and Academy rods until I found a real rod.... There is no over the counter rod for trout fishing that can be compared to a WaterLoo... Not shimano or Castaway.... Castaway is pure junk off the top.... How many Skeletons have been broke just on this site...cousin Nate has broke 8 of them...No guides on big lake would even touch them because they are JuNK!!! If you can find me a top notch guide outfit who uses Castaway as there main rods..I would love to know!!!

specknation 03-06-2011 03:06 PM

I guess you have to buy a $40000 Plus rolled edge see single wall

Again...sell me yours,,,,, but like I thought you don't have one are you give it some many hand jobs you will not depart...!! And I know exactly what blanks the use and what there cost per rod is.... If you think that blank coast 40dollars you need to stop using that white powder,,,, they could not get those blanks for 40 if they bought 5000 at a time!!!! So don't act like you know!!!

Great point, the blank should b ans is normally the most expensive part of a rod..... Putting the pieces together is low cost. Craftsmanship is also a cost, but come on..... We all know stamping a name on a rod should not b the most expensive part of the rod.

Only because they sponsor him...which means he can break all he wants...don't cost him nothing...I'm talking about a guide service...not someone who is force to use a product due to sponsorship,,,,big difference..... You and me both know if Falcon said ill pay you 10,000 a year and free rods....we. Would throw Falcons like food stamps at the super food in New Orleans
