Boat Shed
 

Building a boat shed in the back yard.
We leveled off the dirt and built the farm.
Pouring cement tomorrow. Would be done today if the weather didn't screw us up yesterday.

lol !! is it gonna be like a pole barn? or have walls that have siding ect?? reason i ask is i didnt see any curb formed to set a wall on if is is gonna have walls ....that way the water will stay out

footings area little deep for just a boat shed how many yards did you come up with? could save a good bit if you made them a little more shallow. also you need to raise your wire mesh up about 2 inches off the ground. cement bricks work well. overall looks good.

How are you going to anchor the roof supports to the concrete?

The wire mesh is pulled up when the concrete was poured. I hired some concrete finishers to do the concrete work.
It took 11 1/2 yards. It is 14' X 28' with a 17' driveway. I got the concrete from the guy I posted with the big Squid. $87/yard.
It is just a pole barn type, with a bit attic for my wife to store stuff.
It will be shingled roof with the same vinyl siding as my house so it will look the same.

Right after the concrete finishers did their thing.

2 weeks ago when I first called it was $88/yard. When I called Monday, it went down to $87. Few others quoted me anywhere from $95 to $105 per yard, depending on where their plant was located.
Me and the salesman both grew up in the same small town. Knowed him since he was a lil kid. His family is good people.

cheapest i got it recently was 97/yd and that was pour a 255 yrd slab for a house

Dang, seems like they would have given you a deal for that much concrete.

My job would be cheaper if I went with just a conventional metal roof, but we have some restrictions in the hood.

Since I wiped out the front of my garage and the top of my center console, I figgered it would have been cheaper to build this thing a couple years ago.

And my wife wanted more attic space, so that is gonna add some $$$'s too.

well i paid 95 here in oakdale. they must get that stuff out the gulf, farther north you go it goes up....:D

I got a friend who is a carpenter who is doing most of it. Otis Collins.
Poole Roofing is doing the shingles.
I also have a friend who has a sheet metal business. When he isn't busy, he will be on it with myself and my dad.

Nah, Byron is my code knowing guy. I can do electrical work, just don't know the city codes good enuff. They change so much, you hafta do too much reading and studying to keep up.
But me and him are gonna study a lot of free beers tomorrow night. Don't look for him to give you any help Saturday.

I gotta fix for dat. PVC pipe, duct tape and some super glue.

I would have spent 1/3 the money if I could have gone with a metal building.
But I would have had to file something with the city, then argue with the neighbors if they didn't agree, and then still may have had to go this route.
But my wife loves it, I like it.

Waiting on some more special order sheet metal.
Gonna finish up some vinyl siding stuff while we wait.
