Alright Fool, W and Salty...

I need some help from you guys(I guess I'll take a little advice from you too, W:*****:). I went to Cabela's today and bought some new Saltwater equip. I need to know who these "Sand Eels" and "Jr's" you are talking about. I looked all over and found some eels but none really in the colors that I have seen you guys using.

Also, Salty, your Bombers...How big are they? I found some bombers that were divers that were bout 4" long and some topwaters that were 5" and up. That seemed big! I couldn't find any split or broke-bombers. What other baits do you guys recommend for top water?

I understand if no one wants to help me but know now that if you opt not to, I shall come to your precious lake with a boat load of croakers and chase you all over the lake!:*****::*****::*****: Really, any help would be appreciated.

Southern......I've looked at Cabela's before & they did not have much of a selection of sand eel jrs. Academy has a good selection of colors.

I don't think the Lake Charles Academy carries the Glo/char Sand eel jr..........In the past 5 or 6 months I have checked at Academy 8 times [and counting] and they have not had this bait......just an empty spot on the rack.

jsmoke222000 07-27-2009 06:56 PM

I have seen the regular sand eels but they are always out of jrs. Try the deadly dudley jrs. glow glitter & chartruese.

What are these LSU's that you guys speak of? Heard about a lot of people fishin em but have no idea.

Ducktrickster 07-27-2009 07:54 PM

top right in W's picture

Baits

Good to Superior Bait off Seigen in BR and get Bayou Chubs in the LSU color (purple body with Chart tail) and Glow/chart tail. Also, get some Tsunami Swim baits in Purple Haze, Glow, and Olive back colors....get the 3" swim shad. They make several different types but I find the 3" swim shad works the best....just cast it and work it slow or fast like a crank bait by reeling it in. That is all you need. One last thing get a Chart and bone color Top Dog Jr by Mirrolure or spook.

LaAngler 07-27-2009 08:03 PM

lafayette has glow/chart and LSU

Hey, ya guys are awesome! Thanks for all the great advice! Thanks for all the posts here and the pms on what I should be gettin. Man-o-man, here goes budget! LMAO!!

Again fellas, Thanks a million!

all star rod 07-27-2009 08:17 PM

Southern151---Now all you have to do is find the fish. Remember if their are no fish where you are at..... Live Bait will not even help you. Which place are you looking at fishing?

southern151 07-27-2009 08:23 PM

Probably the Ponch., seabrook, Chalmette. Those types of places. I have to work in those areas a decent bit so, I'll likely drag my POS boat any time I get a chance. I can't do big water due to lack of a boat that is safe to take there but, I'll do the ponds, canals and channels whenever I get a chance. Reds, sheepshead, trout...Whatever's biting...Hopefully not too many hardheads! LOL

Ducktrickster 07-27-2009 08:23 PM

Good God, I just looked at the norton website. They have more colors than anyone could want. For me....LSU, Glow chartreuse, and opening night.

all star rod 07-27-2009 08:37 PM

Southern never fished those areas you listed. I mostly fish Dularge & Big Lake. Certin times of the year I fish the rigs out of Freshwater City and Vermillion Bay.

southern151 07-27-2009 08:49 PM

I'll fish anywhere I can put my boat or have time to get to. Got a lot to learn and the rest of my life to find em. Hopefully, I can get on em soon.

I missed a great opportunity the other day. I had to go get my pots off of the lake and started to take a pole with me but decided not to. I was out there and the water started boiling with mullets. The swell was massive and went on for over 20 minutes. I even drove up on em and they still kept bustin! I was kickin myself pretty hard! I wanted to jump in or throw a crab pot at em...Something!

Salty 08-02-2009 02:01 PM

Corey, expect to go 8-5 with the LSU color.....8 hookups....5 misses. :p
