Triton v. NauticStar

Any opinions which hull would be better to fish the coast, either the Triton 24' bay boat or the Nautic Star 24' edition? Thanks.

aquaholic 04-21-2011 05:32 PM

I fish a 240lts and love it. My advice would be to wet test both boats and see which one you like the best.

PUREBAY2200 04-21-2011 05:34 PM

24 triton hands down. Been n both ..... Not knockin Nautic star. But triton wins.
Go buy n Florida. Go to boat trader look up 240 lts in Florida..... I'll b surprised at the price if the one is still there.:)

PUREBAY2200 04-21-2011 05:35 PM

U will b suprised at price... Stupid auto text.

How about in rougher waters? I'm also curious. Never been in a triton but nautic star yes. One thing i like about the nautic star is the gunnel rod holders, I don't think Triton has those.

PUREBAY2200 04-21-2011 06:38 PM

Triton built it's name on ride quality. It's a heavy boat, not speed demon. U will run thru 2-3 ftrs no issue. I been nasty stuff n a triton and felt safe & sound. Layout on triton is amazing. I almost bought the boat I'm tellin u about..... But bought my wife a new car:)

evis102 04-21-2011 06:41 PM

Triton hands down.

Opinions_Vary 04-21-2011 07:27 PM

"W" 04-21-2011 07:36 PM

PUREBAY2200 04-21-2011 07:37 PM

shellman 04-21-2011 07:47 PM

Triton by far.. Lots betta boat....

"W" 04-21-2011 07:53 PM

I just find this thread funny....its like asking which is better.... BMW or Ford Escape

redadele1 04-21-2011 09:06 PM

Sorry "W"

Sorry if I am not as smart as you, I just thought I would get real opinions and not paid endorsements and sales pitches.

I don't own either one.........just saying ..... I mean come on...dude ... Triton is one of the best bay boats on the market..... You cant even put NauticStar in that league of boats

Now if you would of asked NauticStar vs Pathfinder....You would of had some push and pull

Montauk17 04-21-2011 09:38 PM

I really like nautic star, but the tritons ride better in the nasty chop.

mriguy 04-21-2011 10:02 PM

Gas Money!

The Triton is much better hull but just think about how much gas and gear you can buy with the money you saved buying the Nauticstar, which is a fine boat. Then again if you can afford the Triton, take a look at the Blackjack. Thats a great boat

aquaholic 04-21-2011 10:24 PM

I think Blackjacks are the best bayboats also but they don't make a 24 last time I checked. Sometimes you need that extra room.

PUREBAY2200 04-21-2011 10:25 PM

All the electronics and gear n the world won't make a boat ride like a triton......
Blackjack is great, but I get the feelin he wants 24 ft.

I saw a 2011 blackjack on tv pass today n manchac.
FINE!!!
Yammy 300 4 stoke, dual black power poles, all black exterior.... Wow!!

"W" 04-22-2011 03:25 AM

Haynie rides better than a Triiton...just saying

I talked to bill Kenner 2 years ago at a boat show, he said the 24 is deff. A possibility in the future but they are waiting on the economy to turn around b4 the go into production .

haynie isnt even in the same category as triton. its like comparing yellowfin to a sea ark. you think your haynie is invincible only because you own one. if you had any other boat you would think the same of it. its mostly ignorance because your previous rig was a 13' seafox.

****!!!...Unless you know what the hell you're talking about. I've been in both haynie and triton. Haynie is deff. in the same league. If takes on solid 3 1/2- 4 footers and the ocasional 5 ft. roller and eats that shat for breakfast! Ain't that right Nate Dogg?

Don't know about 4 footers but I fished one in some nasty chop, probably up to 2 foot and its was smooth as glass crossing the lake. By far the best riding boat I've been in.

Hard out going tide and 25-30 mph south winds can do amazing things in the south end of the ship channel. Wouldn't believe it if I didn't see myself. Biggest waves I've ever seen... Not offshore.

Duck Butter 04-22-2011 07:58 AM

2 words = BLUE WAVE:grinpimp:

"W" 04-22-2011 08:02 AM

Haynie will make a 3ft chop its biotch...... last week we were in the ship channel with 25mph south wind and hard falling tide.....they had every bit of 4ft rollers and I would not be scared to say a 5 was not involved... Just hit these conditions when it opens up to supercut

Do you think they can make a z21 with a cuddy cabin?
Since it eats 3-5ft seas. So I can use it as my offshore boat out of Venice.

I'm talkin about real offshore. 50 miles out the mouth of the river and stayin out a couple nights. If this boat eats 3-5th seas I should be fine. My buddy will be extremely pissed when I outrun his 26 regulator in 3-5 ft seas.

I would have no problem going offshore in a 24' bay boat. I have seen a Ranger bass boat 30 miles out of Fourchon rig fishing.

bayouchub 04-22-2011 08:50 AM

Are you serious?

which one do you own? 5ft rollers? come on dude **** unless you know what youre talking about. show me proof that any BAY boat eats 5 footers for breakfast like its nothing and ill buy YOU one. i fish with close friends all the time who run 36 yellowfin and 35 fountain and 5 footers are not as easy as your magical bay boat makes them. either you are just as stupid as w or you need to learn how to read a tape.

these guys are idiots when it comes to boats. if bay boats can run 5 footers why is there even a offshore boat market. if a 24 bay boat can run 5 footers why even make a bigger boat? they see 2 foot chop in and run through it for 10 mins and when they get home its oh man five footers all day.

flounder_smacker 04-22-2011 09:27 AM

and as long as haynie uses 40% wood construction in their boats they are NOT in the same category as 100% composite boats. sorry...

Me? Yes, it was slick out there. I would do it in a 20' bay boat if I had one, but thats probably why I don't have one:D I would be at Medusa and Mars if I had enough gas slinging yellowFINS!

Salty 04-22-2011 09:45 AM

I've ridden in W's boat and I think a White Water, another rolled gunnel, rides as good or better. Shame they don't make 'em anymore.

MallardFish 04-22-2011 09:58 AM

smacker...your mom just called. She said go cut the grass so you can have 10 more dollars to go towards your boat. Go play outside like the rest of the kids and let the grown ups talk. Some peoples children have no respect.

Ray 04-22-2011 10:10 AM

5'ers are not bad, if they are far apart.
3'er can kick you arse if they are close enuff for your bow to fall in the trough before the next one hits you. Wave distance has a lot to do with a ride.

The ship channel in the jetty's has big rollers, it all depends on the tides and winds.

From a guy who says I have a camp in Big Lake ( but its his dads) lmao......

Hopedale Hustler 04-22-2011 10:11 AM

I'd love to see a rolled gunnel 21 foot bay boat eating up 5 foot rollers 70 miles offshore out of Cameron tuna fishing in a hundred foot of water.?...lol

Fished tuna out of a 24ft champ in 1200 ft of water in 3 to 4 ft rollers....I'm just saying my boat can handle 5ft waves if need be...I don't even want to fish in 3ft....

Edwards....how big were those swells we hit in cocodrie??? I know when we hit the bottom all you saw was water in front and back...and boat disappeared

Ray 04-22-2011 10:18 AM

I don't want to be in 5' waves in any 21 ft. boat.
Unless it is long swells. Wind waves, screw dat.

Salty 04-22-2011 10:23 AM

W figures them waves are every bit as tall as him. When you're 4' tall.....it's hard to judge distance.
