Ray 05-08-2011 07:47 PM

Saw one at the HT Series.

"W" 05-08-2011 07:52 PM

Heard one sank in Texas a few weeks ago!!!

evis102 05-08-2011 07:53 PM

Very fast until you hit rough water. There is a reason the guy that builds that boat is developing a monohull.

evis102 05-08-2011 07:55 PM

The one that sank was a much older model with no floatation. They put the power pole down and went wade fishing. Waves breaking over the back end sunk the boat.

:*****: I'll be home on the 25th

gonzalesdave 05-08-2011 08:50 PM

That's a sweet looking floater for sure!!

gonzalesdave 05-08-2011 08:53 PM

And Simon had one at his shop a few months back. I think it was a Top Cat with a three hundo. I asked him about it and he said it was a nice boat and ran well. F22 is where it's at (I like the rod boxes)

skeeter77346 05-08-2011 09:26 PM

I owned a 2005 SCB see: http://www.mathernebrothers.com/MB_2/Boats.html#4
Eric Simmons is the guru of high performance fishing cats IMO. He is a very solid honest guy who makes a really bad a$$ boat. My 22 ft SCB ran 84.4 with a 250 XS Lab Bravo 1 28". Anyhow, you do need to run them at 50+ or so, to smooth out the ride, if you cannot do that because of snotty conditions then you 'manage' the seas like in any other boat. They are lower sided rigs than your typical bay boat, but the SCB fit lots of guys fishing style. Very fuel efficient rigs and given 65 mph CRUISING speeds sort of a 'time machine'. SCB is full custom - if you can dream it up and pay for it Eric will build it for you if feasible. I am in Grand Isle right now and the SCB would be great for the back bays, but IMO iffy chasing Mangroves at the Fourchon rigs. That said, they have been known to run from Mobile to Venice back in the Oberto days. Eric does have a 24 ft V bottom test mule that he is toying with. Not sure if/when he will pull the trigger on it as he is very busy building the cat boats.

Lake Chuck Duck 05-08-2011 09:33 PM

I saw a couple leavin the HT cup on day 2.

Red Devil 05-08-2011 09:49 PM

Neither of these two statements are completely true. Ride in a SCB, it'll change your mind.

Dink 05-09-2011 12:51 PM

Question.......why is haynie making a lowside cat Hull then? To compete with the SCB? Just a question, not jab.....

A guide in Rockport TX running a SCB Stingray / Yamaha 250 SHO. I have not had a chance to play w/ that boat, but he is reporting 80 mph w/ 28" Bravo I XS (on the rev limiter).

I can get 85 mph out of the Merc Racing 250 Sport XS w/ 26" Pro ET (light load).

Glad I was turned on to this sight...good stuff.

Hey Eric,
Glad to see you made the trip over here. Good guys, good fun.
On the Rockport SHO Stingray - What console is on that one? Are you sending him a 28 Pro ET? Or a bigger Bravo?
I guess that you are still selling new Merc props?

ckinchen 06-18-2011 09:55 PM

I would really like to see SCB have some time to work on the V-hull design. I think it could be a homerun for them.
