Does revamped = cheapened? Hard to believe you'll get the same quality for 100 less.

I guess Shimano has to lower the cost of their reels now to compete with the ones sold on EBAY....:D:work::work:

flounder_smacker 05-12-2011 05:38 PM

you can order ceramic bearings from bocabearings.com . they have bearings for almost any reel. abec5 orange seal are the ones to get. changing them on a curado takes about 5 mins.

Shimano has some of the best factory bearings out there. If u are replacing worn bearings then I would switch to ceramics but if just wanting better performance I'd keep the new factory bearings and re oil them with better oil. The oil they send them with is kind of heavy. To re oil bearings take them out of the reel and soak them for about 20 mins in some degreaser the one in spray can works good. After that dry them with a blow dryer untill dry. The best oil I find is quantum hot sauce in the lil red bottle. Put only 2 drops and put back in the reel. Makes a noticeable diff compared to factory and alot cheaper than ceramics.

evis102 05-13-2011 02:25 PM

Rocket Fuel oil with factory bearings is just as good as orange seal Boca ceramics. Also ceramic bearings are noisy.
