flounder_smacker 05-17-2011 10:52 AM

Looks like a king cobra. Don't see how it could be down here but holly shizz. Don't know what I would do if I came across that.

I don't believe it either. Looks like a King Cobra and a massive one at that. Seems like there would be a lot more pictures out there than just this one.

meaux fishing 05-17-2011 11:00 AM

I kinda thought it might be one of those boas that people turn loose... but i dont know much about snakes... seems far fetched to me too

specktator 05-17-2011 11:01 AM

Just a big water snake. I have seen ones that big before.

mikedatiger 05-17-2011 11:08 AM

I could be dead wrong but no way that's real and def not Louisiana:
  • Person's yard is way too nice - no boats in the background
  • Road doesn't have potholes in it.
  • I don't see a Re-elect Edwin Edwards sign
  • And, If it was LA some cajun would have that thing strung up ON the fence!

i used to do some E/C work out in burns point and the water snakes were firkin huge! ive never seen one that big but im sure its a possibility!

simplepeddler 05-17-2011 11:28 AM

But if it's a water snake .............just why is it fleeing the water?

Yeh when I was a kid we used to walk down the train tracks to this big trestle that was about 40-50 feet overlooking a big cooley. And everytime when we would get there, there would be snakes that look just like this hanging out down there. Big mofo's!! I got a picture of one in TX this past hunting season about half the size of the one pictured on this thread. Let me track it down.

Good question. But also, how do you know it's fleeing the water?? Did someone talk to it? :*****::*****: Just kidding!

This guy was hanging out by a pond on my deer lease in Texas. Picture doesn't really do it justice, he was prob about 8 feet long.

flounder_smacker 05-17-2011 12:22 PM

That's more believable. The one in the first pic looks to be around 25 foot. Not saying it's impossible but getting a cobra down here would cost a good bit even if brought illegally don't see why someone would just let it go. Or it ate the owner.

Was this an Indigo snake?Thats what it looks like to me,havent seen one since I was a kid. They are pretty rare, the one I saw was in Sulpher a guy had as a pet.
The other pic looks like King Cobra to me!

DUCKGOGETTER 05-17-2011 02:19 PM

Fake i think

Ray 05-17-2011 02:56 PM

Water snakes are not black.

tumbleweed 05-17-2011 03:55 PM

There are no pot holes on the road so I am going to say this picture was not taken in Louisiana.

I have no idea what it was. He wasn't aggressive and moving real slow. I messed with him for about 30 min, walking right up to it and it never got nervous. I think it was fixing to shed.

southern151 05-17-2011 04:21 PM

Spectator, that thing looks a lot like what we referred to as a bull snake back home. Non aggressive but would bite when you put it in a bind! They weren't venomous but would give you one heckuva infection!

flounder_smacker 05-17-2011 10:14 PM

you know its not in louisiana cause theres no pictures of it dead.
