meaux fishing 05-21-2011 08:14 AM

Quitting smoking is like quitting anything else you have to be honestly be ready to quit and do it for yourself. If you arent ready no matter what miracle drugs you take you will start back. Been smoke free almost 2 years now :)

fishinpox 05-21-2011 08:29 AM

I quit on jan 1st .... But the past month I've been sneaking cigs

SaltyShaw 05-21-2011 09:30 AM

:smokin: I guess its because i was raised to never quit at anything . . . . a burden that i will bare forever lol damn you Dad! :*****:

iron man 05-21-2011 11:47 AM

Indeed its not easy. I started when I was 17ish, now I'm 19 and I find out I'm going to be a parrain under one condition, that I give up smoking.

blackmamba 05-21-2011 01:46 PM

Damn Blue. Good Job! I tried to smoke one yesterday and couldn't finish it. Once you quit for an extended period if time they really do taste like ****. Makes you wonder how you ever liked em.

LaAngler 05-21-2011 03:35 PM

i'm jealous, i've been thinking more than ever about biting the bullet and doing it.

all my most comfy fishin shirts have a few tiny burn holes LOL

Montauk17 05-21-2011 03:56 PM

Congrats bro....I have been trying hard since the new year. I might have bought 3 packs since jan. Hardest part for me is when Im drinkin a few cold ones.

jaclyn.renea 05-21-2011 08:42 PM

Congrats bud! Keep up the good work. I've heard some nasty things bout chantix.

LPfishnTIM 05-22-2011 12:48 AM

every now and then I think I have an urge to smoke, I light one up take a few puffs and then put it out and every time I think I was wrong about that urge!

booyagasha 05-22-2011 06:30 AM

Man I tried kicking it last night...had night sweats and insomnia.....anyone else experience this and for how long?

haha true...but in all reality, cigarettes are ALOT worse than crack. More people addicted, more people that can't quit, and more people that have died from smoking cigs than crack.

maybe chantix is for me then...i was really hoping that i wouldnt need it:pissed:

SaltyShaw 05-22-2011 08:26 AM

I read some bad stuff on that Chantix . . . . might want to read up on it before you take it, i was thinking about it also

booyagasha 05-22-2011 09:59 AM

about the bad dreams????

BLUE 05-22-2011 10:05 AM

Nothing bad happen to me while I was taking chantix ! The only thing that happen was good it help me QUIT smoking !

jchief 05-22-2011 06:51 PM

Good job. Keep up the good work.

My college pshyc proffessor spent a few days talking about quitting and how to do it. I used this when I quit 12 years ago.

The main thing was to stay away from the triggers. Gotta figure out what they are for you.

Exactly..... I quit a couple years back, but i was ready. Smoked until new year's eve and a midnight i quit and that was it. it bothered me when i drank at first, but after acouple months it was like i got over the hill and all cravings were gone. Once I get to the point when I could smell the smoke on people or in their vehicle, I wandered how i ever smoked in the first place.

Salty 05-24-2011 10:53 AM

If I ever made up my mind to quit smoking....I'd have to include coffee drinkin' to the list. Gotta have a cig with the java.

I have been cig free since Jan 1st this year. Believe me it was tough for awhile but getting through it is worth it. I put on a ton of weight though as I am now eating everything in sight!

Yeah I know about putting on weight ! I gotta take an extra breath so I can tie my shoes ! Lol

Salty 05-29-2011 10:31 PM

Does anybody have a theory as to why most people grab a smoke immediately after eating? I actually light a smoke with food still in my mouth. Can't help it! Also, I've heard many people (men and women) say that their best cigarette is right after sex. I don't know about that cause I don't smoke while sleepin'.
