Frogs

1 Attachment(s)
Went froggin in Hathaway last night and ended up with a mess of frogs. Havent been in a while and I forgot how much fun it was. The night didnt get off to a good start. Before we even saw the first frog, my buddy broke the prongs off of the gig while gigging a possum. From then on all we had was our hands which was different at first but we got into a groove real quick. Time to fry them suckas.

Ended up with 20 caught in crawfish ponds

I learned to never use a crawfish sack for frogs. All the crawlin around they do end up pushing holes and they get out.

We use one of my old crab pots.. Open the cage and roll. And if we're out the boat walking in waist deep water, we'll use crawfish sack.

We do the same but we don't put em in the same one as our beer!! Crab pots work good too.

thinking about going frogging for the first time!
how do you clean them??

evidrine 06-27-2011 12:23 PM

Man, I saw a big daddy get hit by the car in front of me on the way home Friday. Some frogs would be good right now!

gckid 06-27-2011 04:55 PM

take a 4" piece of pvc pipe long enough to go through the lid of a 48 qt ice chest, extend 4" through bottom of lid and about 10" out of top. glue or epoxy in place, with L braces for support. put ice and water and drop frogs in headfirst. fast and no escapees

cut their legs off at the waist and peel the skin back as you would a catfish. some people clean the backs but I dont mess with that.
