Fly Fisherman Mad

I have been hearing that the fly fisherman are outraged because lack of access to feathers for fly s...

As the new Feathers in hair has went out of control....

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-14-2011 05:22 PM

What?

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-14-2011 05:22 PM

Let's use our words w

Mediumheavyaction6'6 06-14-2011 05:26 PM

what he is saying is true, although what he is saying is incomplete. Fly fishermen are having trouble finding hackle because hair salons are using it as a new feather extension.

longsidelandry 06-14-2011 05:30 PM

Heard that over the weekend. One of my buddy's wife has that crap in her hair.

"W" 06-14-2011 05:34 PM

I heard that the feathers they use are the same ones all the girls are putting in their hair...and its putting a short of them

wtretrievers 06-14-2011 05:43 PM

Sounds like it's time to break out the shotgun....$$$$$

outcast 06-14-2011 05:47 PM

Yeah its crap. A normal cape of hackle feathers goes for 60 bucks, some fly shops are getting upwards of 300-400 from salons. Some fly shops are refusing to sell to women that come in asking for the feathers and stockpiling them for thier regular customers. Its just a fad, and like most fads it will go away

"W" 06-14-2011 05:59 PM

Lucas now is your chance to make bank....sell your Feathers!!!!

Ray 06-14-2011 06:01 PM

I heard it was cause Steven Tyler wears them in his hair. Now all the women want to also.
It's bad when a man sets the trends for women now days.

Ray 06-14-2011 06:02 PM

Go to Michaels by Academy. They got a buttload of feathers.

fishinpox 06-14-2011 06:06 PM

LPfishnTIM 06-14-2011 07:12 PM

Big Kahunaz 06-14-2011 07:26 PM

marshworks 06-14-2011 08:39 PM

as a fly f@g I can tell you that this is going to be a serious problem for a lot of the commercial tyers for freshwater. fortunately, for those that tote the long rod in the salt, we "usually" use feathers from a different part of the rooster. Not that anyone cares, just came out of hiding..

This is true, the hackles that are used as hair extensions are the long saddle hackles. Most saltwater fly tiers, such as myself use the shorter neck hackle
